Trump is going to be pretty near my neck of the woods up in New Hampshire so I'm going to go check out the circus in person. It probably will just be a rally, but considering how far north it is in New Hampshire, I'm thinking it may not be insanely crowded.

If there is an opportunity to ask questions, I've been trying to think what I would like to ask. So far, the thing that interests me most personally is to ask his opinion about student loans and how we can't file bankruptcy on them. I think a lot of people would benefit from being able to restructure that debt, and it would also bring down the cost of education since loans would no longer be guaranteed.

Frankly, I also think if he did support that, a lot of people in their twenties and thirties might be very interested in supporting him, another plus.

But, if someone comes up with a better question that won't come up otherwise, I might ask something else. So what would you ask?

Ask him how we can get manufacturing back in our country? Ask him how we can get back our lost freedoms? Ask him why the government wants to control us so completely that they want to know where we went in our car, and what we bought? Why are we being divided by race? Why has our education system been so dumbed down?

It would be really interesting to ask him about if he intends to withdraw from NAFTA to impose the tariffs he has already talked about. I think that fits well with what would have to be his plan to revitalize manufacturing, assuming there is one.

Ask him his stance on the UN. Particularly his awareness and thoughts on agenda 21. If he is serious about making us great it must include ending these BS treaties and agreements having to do with environmentalism.

Or better yet, ask him if he believes our elections are rigged and the people that pay for the Presidency want Clinton and Bush again and what he plans to do to keep this from happening and keep himself from "disappearing" from the radar.

Ask him what his stance on 2nd amendment rights are and if he feels that less restrictive gun laws in areas such as Detroit, Chicago, California, etc would reduce crime rates.

His stance on "assault rifles" has me on the fence about him but maybe he has changed his mind since then. His views on everything else I'm all for but if he's firm on restrictive gun laws then I have to go with Rand Paul.

Well here is the problem with your thinking. If you take out student loans to finance YOUR education and YOU cannot or will not pay them back it should be YOUR responsibility since you made the the choice to take on the debt.

Further, since the student loan industry has been nationalized under Obama, any relief, either in the form of loan forgiveness and/or bankruptcy will have to be funded by US tax payer dollars.

So tell me oh "Wise One", why should we the taxpayers have to pay for YOUR poor choices?

That's a fair question. I think the student loan situation is a bit akin to the mortgage deal where they were making bad loans because they knew the government would cover them.

I actually think certain schools, including some of the more dubious for profit institutions, basically exist as a way to generate these loans which are really attractive for a certain sort of lender who lets people into school who probably haven't considered the ramifications. I see it as a sort of predatory lending scheme, really.

Sadly, I also think because the loans are guaranteed that it artificially inflates the price of tuition in a deal that both the schools and lenders like, which is supported if you look how much financial officers now make at certain schools, but it works to the detriment of the student.

I agree people need to pay their obligations. But I also think schools should be much more affordable, and the government through this policy has created an education bubble. We send people to school they can't really afford and then watch them try to struggle out of it. Some can and many do, but it doesn't need to be this difficult.

I believe that if you allowed bankruptcy to be filed, you'd have fewer loans issued and for smaller amounts. Maybe you would have fewer people going through school, but that's not a bad thing either as you don't want people going just because they can get it paid upfront.

I know many people will see my question as how can I shirk my debts. It's really not. And it isn't that I'm asking for myself.

What I'm really asking is to undo what has been the cause that makes education so overpriced. And, I think that's actually the free market solution.

Wouldn't most of you agree that just as the debtor has the obligation not to take out a loan they have no intention of repaying that a creditor should also have to do due diligence in making decisions about whom they loan to rather than just forcing a guarantee of repayment?

I see this all as a matter of fiscal responsibility.

I see your point. However, any sort of loan forgiveness and/or bankruptcy will have to be financed with US taxpayer dollars. It is not as simple as "writing off" the debt.

Additionally, there alternatives to taking on massive debt for a 4 year school (party vacation). A student could opt for going to a 2 year community college then transferring to a 4 year college or university for a fraction of the total cost of attending a strait 4 year school.

I just feel that if a person was "sold on something" that they are responsible for the choices that they have made.

Most of the people I know with student loans are good young people that don't want to go bad on their debt, they just want the job opportunities to allow them to work and earn. Even the degrees that are not considered a waste of time in college like medical and engineering could be at risk when our lovely politicians want to bring in foreign workers to fill these positions, leaving our graduates with debt and lesser of a chance to get the job.
