Whenever someone stoops to selfish, hostile, malicious thoughts, feelings and actions, they are preparing the conditions to receive those spirits. And then, what trouble they have ridding themselves of them! You will say, ‘But we have heard that Jesus’ cross chases out demons.’ Actually, no cross, whether of wood, iron or gold, has ever chased out demons. The only cross that can put them to flight is the living cross of the human being. For a human being is a cross: when you spread your arms out you become a cross in space and connect with the four cardinal points, and when you have worked a long time to purify yourself and become holy, you are able through your emanations to repel all that is negative and dark. A cross, in outline, is merely the meeting point of a vertical line with a horizontal line. These two lines represent two opposing forces and directions, which meet to achieve the union of the two principles – the masculine (the vertical line) and the feminine (the horizontal line). The cross is an expression of the union of the two principles. To understand the cross, therefore, means knowing how to put the masculine and the feminine, the positive and the negative, into action. You will say, ‘But how can the two principles be put into action? And is it that important?’ Yes, as important as knowing how to use fire and water, which also represent the two principles, the masculine being fire, the feminine water. Imagine if you didn’t know – how many possibilities you would be deprived of! Think of everything you are able to do because of knowing how to use water and fire. It is the union of the two principles that creates movement. And consider the wheel… What is a wheel? A cross in motion. Geburah is the fifth sephira on the sephirotic tree which the Cabbalists associate with the planet Mars. Geburah represents aggressive energy which protects against and repulses enemies. And because Geburah's number is 5, the pentagram - the five-pointed star - is often used by magi as a protection. They place it at the entrance of their house to prohibit evil spirits from entering, but also to prevent luminous spirits from leaving. Obviously, placing a pentagram at the entrance of your house is not sufficient for your protection. This symbol becomes truly effective only for those who work to become a pentagram inwardly. The pentagram is, in some sense, like the skeleton of a spirit on the astral plane, which must be brought to life so it can stand guard at the entrance of your house and defend it against harmful entities. But you can do so only by your own life: a life of honesty, integrity, and service to the light. [link to www.godlikeproductions.com] |
