1. Have we seen anything like this before in California? 2. They say a 9.0 is not possible in California right? 3. What would be required an earthquake to be larger than a 9? Just thought I would throw that out there  I think the 9.0 scenario is only possible on the Cascadia subduction zone in far northern CA. San Andreas can't produce that, more like in the 7-8 range. A 9 is ten times larger than an 8. So it's a huge difference.  :Pacific Quake: .
