Re: I'm Russian – ask me a question. Be it about Russia or a personal one.
Yes I have a piece of data which if applied would give the people applying it a huge advantage over those that do not. I have tried talking to a number of western countries and they will not even look at the data. It seems that the Russians will not look at it or even answer a polite request to an embassy for information.

Let me it clear...they do not know what the subject matter is and the request is for data evaluation. It's so bad in the west that there is not a single agency in any of the 10 countries I've contacted capable of simply looking at a discovery.

My question is; Is there such an agency in Russia?

Or is your government as stupid as mine.

Is it true that many people park in the middle of the street and drive on sidewalks in Moscow? This is what I've seen on the youtube.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70105595

It was so just a decade ago. Now it is a significantly less frequent occurrence - even if it happens sometimes. But generally driving culture has rocketed up since they began to really strictly punish those not abiding to rules.

Streets in the city center are being reconstructed into being more pedestrian-friendly.
Here's example on how one of such streets looked before and after the reconstruction: [link to proboknet.livejournal.com] (photos order is reversed)

At least give a hint in what area this data lies? There's a number of such agencies, each of them is highly specified. Generally I'd suggest contacting Rostec if it's at least a bit technically practical. If not - Academy of Sciences may be the best choice, but it's still better to chose some specified institution to contact - at least if you want to hear some specified answer within a decade.

I've tried some similar things few years ago and it gave a bit of result, duh.

Actually I don't think that it's news to those really interested. It looks very alike to Eastern traditional medicine - Reiki, Qigong, etc. And I'm fairly sure that I've heard that such abilities are being taught to the Intelligence officers and agents at least.
I believe that the main reason for it to be not implemented into general medical care is because it's highly individual and requires major personal effort from the patient. Which makes it not quite as useful as it may seem.

I'll agree with the "requires major personal effort from the patient." part and disagree with the similar to parts of any established "system". Would not surprise me at all that the general field has been examined in Russia.

Re: I'm Russian – ask me a question. Be it about Russia or a personal one.
I was finally able to find some time to translate this part:

[link to youtu.be]

That's the first video here containing my face. And maybe the last too.

This talk show took place on August 4th 2015 and I asked a question that people asked me several days before that.
To understand the context correctly you should note that "serving the state" don't necessary means "serving in state structures". In a way even a janitor serves his country as long as he does his work properly. Leontyev uses term "serve" is a broadest sense.

You can find the whole video here:
[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
Only on Russian though.

I will translate answer on my second question (about Syria) a bit later.

Re: I'm Russian – ask me a question. Be it about Russia or a personal one.
I’m on GLP for more than a year and quite tired of a bunch of popular misconceptions and myths you people have about my country. That’s aside from clear propaganda and some trolls (or shills – whatever).
So, I’m willing to answer some questions regarding my country to have a page to where direct all the recurring rubbish I encounter here.
As a short summary – I studied history (mostly Japanese though) in university-level college. Before that I was interested in programming. So, I can answer quite a wide variety of questions. Don’t expect however me having a lot of “special” knowledge. There is some of that too, but quite outdated and not that interesting.

BTW, I’m not tolerant at all. I’ll block for excessive swearing and trolling without any hesitation. I’ll answer any questions I can - even if I don’t like them - as long as they are asked politely. Don’t expect to like all of the answers though.

I was trained to hate you, with no remorse! Stupid!

I met you on the field, and thought much different. I made friends, played football. Got knocked out by a "Monster" football forward. 250 plus, I ring in at 150.

Fuck all them!

I was taught to hate Russians', they were our "Cold War" adversaries. Such nonsense....

I'm a bit older now. Back then, I made friendships. I had a brief three weeks, looking at my enemy. Why did I come away with friends? They were awesome, my worst enemy. Changed my life forever.

I miss them! I never again had the chance to keep them as friends. They just left, after three weeks of camaraderie.

I was "trained" to hate them. What I found, was "true friends", despite that "Monster" ringing my lame goalie ass.

SKS or AK ?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69153735

You mean firearms?
I don't like firearms in general, but aren't they of different generations and different purpose? SKS is older and clearly less efficient, so if my life depended on it, I'd chose AK. But I won't use either of them if I can help it.

In general Russian tend to not be very interested in firearms and other such things. We have rather strict arms control. Sometimes ridiculously so.

Do you have unemployment insurance? How about retirement benefits I.E. social security of some type? What do you use to protect yourself from street gangs, do you have street gangs? how long do you serve in jail for a DWI(driving while intoxicated)? do you have rehabilitation centers?, what are they like? Do you have a opium epidemic, crack cocaine, marijuana epidemic? Are your police mean and nasty(corrupt) or do they look out for you?

If you can answer these I have many more questions I would like to ask!

Thanks for your response and good to meet you!

Older generation was taught to hate US here too. Or, rather, hate the US elites and pity common people. Then 80s came with the West rapidly advancing on steroids of debt, while Soviet economy stagnated and finally crumbled under unbearable international obligations that SU took upon itself. By that time the general anti-US propaganda has crumbled to dust too: it was clear that people lived better there, so the keystone of pity was destroyed.
90s (which were horrible in Russia) passed in idolizing everything Western. Be it economy system, clothes, food or popular culture. And then 1999 came: Kosovo, bombings of Belgrade. It was a turning point. Note, that Russian people in general are more interested in international politics that American citizens. It's a part of our mindset.
Afghanistan and Iraq followed. Then Georgia, then Lybia, Tunis, Egypt, Syria - and finally Ukraine.
As a result we are back to the square one. But this time the hate we bear to the US as a state and a pity to brainwashed population is not something taught to us, but a hard-earned experience of disappointment.
We really thought in 90s that there's some ideal system, ideal just world that we have to join and then live happy ever after. And now we feel betrayed. That's the huge part of current Russian position towards US and the West in general.

I have difficulty in understanding what you are saying.

Are you asking if only criminals and government have arms here? Yeah, it's the general rule. There are some exceptions though. For example some hunting rifles are quite legal and far more dangerous that an average pistol.

About the West as an enemy I've ansered in my previous post: [link to www.godlikeproductions.com]

Well, Russians in general have less property than Americans in general. Almost everyone though owns a flat or a house - except for those who chose not to claim ownership of his lodging and those who've managed to lose it. I can bring up some statistics... For example, about 1/3 of people own a car. Which is compensated by the wide system of public transportation - and still means that average family owns at least one car which is quite enough in the most cases.
But the really important thing is that while owning not many things, we have far less debts that people of the West. I think it also should be counted into this equation.

I was "trained" to hate them. What I found, was "true friends", despite that "Monster" ringing my lame goalie ass.

Just a soldier's opinion.

Would you say your government represents your people, to some extent? Is there the same level of complete distrust of government as now seems to exist in the west?

Is corruption a commonplace event in Russia?

Is this video representative of Russian driving?

Do you have unemployment insurance?
There is, but it's so meager it's almost doesn't worth mentioning.

How about retirement benefits I.E. social security of some type?
There's a number of social security measures. My family though have never applied to any of that. For example the pensioners (since 60 for women and since 65 for men) have a free pass on local public transportation and receive some medicines for free. If you don't use it, you may take the money instead though. Also, the general medical service (not of a very good quality though) is free. When I was hit by the car, they made my leg into a cast and gave me a bed into a local hospital for free - not that I didn't escape that place less than 24 hours after that.
Pensions are not high, but balanced to be not less that is needed for basic survival. Which is enough to survive, but not always enough to live a full life. It mostly depends on a region.

What do you use to protect yourself from street gangs, do you have street gangs?
I didn't encounter any in my life. I was lucky to not encounter even some basic thugs - though some my friends did lost a cell phone or a wallet to such people. In general it's considered by the state here (and as I believe for a good reason) that allowing people to have small arms is more dangerous for them than encountering occasional bandits. Well, and the general "self protection" laws is made in a way that if you harm the assaulter while protecting from him, it's you who've may go to jail as a result. Parliament is working on this issue at the moment, but it's quite a difficult matter.

how long do you serve in jail for a DWI(driving while intoxicated)?
For the first time you'd just be prohibited to have driving license for up to 3 years. For those caught for a second time - up to 2 years in jail. It's the most severe measures in the both cases, the actual one is decided by the court.

do you have rehabilitation centers?, what are they like?
There are reintegration centers for people that were in jail. One of them is not far from where I live. As for drug and alcohol addicts there's a judicial problem with them: almost all types of forced treatment were prohibited after the collapse of SU. And for the most cases it's useless to even try to treat addicts if you can't prohibit them to leave. So, this field is on decline here.

Do you have a opium epidemic, crack cocaine, marijuana epidemic?
I'm not really into this topic... But all such drugs are prohibited in Russia. AFAIK, opium is among the most widespread drugs here - due to closeness with Afghanistan. Also, there's some "smoking mixtures" called "spice" usually of Chinese origin. Can't say for sure if it's of big enough scale to call epidemic.

Are your police mean and nasty(corrupt) or do they look out for you?
It's difficult to answer... I'd say in general they are quite corrupt, but look out for population. For example, it's difficult to see in Russia a scenes like what caused the whole "Black Lives Matter" thing in US. Police is not prone to shoot even if they know for sure that the criminal is armed. For the most cases they will not be as violent as their American counterparts (at least from what I've gathered from Internet). But yeah, they take bribes. It definitely is a bad thing, but as the say "severeness of a law is compensated by the fact you don't always have to follow it". You can say that it's a part of a culture here already.

Also, if you or your children will be ever encountered with another wave of propaganda about "ever-evil Russians", I suggest you to read Medinskiy's "Myths about Russia". It's among the best books to compare the West and Russia in historical context.
