Hello Tamonten,
I am the one from this thread "maybe the russians like to stay in germany after all.."
There is a specific question: what if I actually would welcome the russians to come to germany, as I think this is the only way left to clean the garbage of the country away...
Now, may I ask you, how could I possible let these russian soldiers know that in our house they are welcome for food and rest. Could I possible put a sign outside that says "welcome russian friend" or "finally you have come" - in russian?
Anything to make them understand we are happy that they have come? But not in a frivolous manner, but really from the heart.
What could we possible do?
Please advise us. Thank you. .

In such case (not very likely I should note) I'd recommend a flag or coat-of-arms of GDR - regardless of my own or your views on Communism and such. Maybe together with Russian flag too. Russian flag - for the young soldiers, GDR emblem - for those of senior generation. I won't recommend writing any Russian slogans or words however unless you are really able to speak Russian. It'll just disorient people instead. What I've listed above is quite enough to express support without risking to look silly though.
