EPA Spills At Least 3 Million Gallons Of Mine Waste Into River In Colorado Turning It Orange Toxic Sludge Has Now Crossed Into New Mexico
Update's:

"Officials from the Environmental Protection Agency said Sunday that the Gold King Mine discharged an estimated 3 million gallons of contaminated water, three times the amount previously believed.

The mine continues to discharge 500 gallons per minute, EPA Region 8 administrator Shaun McGrath said in a teleconference call Sunday afternoon, but the polluted water is being contained and treated in two ponds by the site of the spill near Silverton, Colo."

"Toxic waste, including arsenic and lead, which seeped into a river in southwest Colorado, has now crossed the state border into New Mexico. More than 550 gallons per minute are entering the water flow system according to the Environmental Protection Agency, which caused the spill.

The agency says it should have the results of samples undergoing lab testing soon, so they can find out just how contaminated the river has become. Aside from lead and arsenic, federal officials say the spill also contains, cadmium, aluminum, copper and calcium.

High levels of arsenic can cause blindness, paralysis and cancer, while lead poisoning can create muscle and vision problems in adults and can be fatal for children."

EPA Spill 1
EPA Spill 2

"The Environmental Protection Agency is warning residents to keep away from a river in Colorado after accidentally spilling mine waste water into it.

The EPA was investigating the abandoned Gold King Mine on Wednesday together with the state Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, when they triggered the release of the waste into Cement Creek, a tributary of the Animas River in San Juan County.

Ironically, the initial goal was to find a safe way to pump out the wastewater and treat it.

Some one million gallons of wastewater is estimated to have been discharged during the incident. The spill turned water in the river bright orange."

Hmmm...

Maybe something else is going on and they are using this as an excuse as to why the river is orange...

That is a smart move by the epa, now they can take the millions it was going to cost for the clean-up, pay themselves a fine for dumping the stuff and use that money for a conference in the Bahamas to study why it happened.

What a bunch of BS LIES:

"Officials emphasized that there was no threat to drinking water from the spill. But downstream water agencies were warned to avoid Animas water until the plume passes, said David Ostrander, director of EPA's emergency response program in Denver.

Officials weren't sure how long it would take the plume to dissipate, Ostrander said. The acidic sludge is made of heavy metal and soil, which could irritate the skin, he said.

The EPA was testing the plume to see which metals were released. Previous contamination from the mine sent iron, aluminum, cadmium, zinc and copper into the water, said Peter Butler, co-coordinator of the Animas River Stakeholders Group."

That's cool and acceptable. Just like letting BP dump corexit in the GOM and surrounding areas. Just don't get caught as a contractor changing a window or putting a nail into a home that may have lead paint, your ass could be fined $$$$ because that could be oh so harmful.

Wait just a minute.

When anyone else spill as much as a cup of tea in a waterway, EPA hits them with a big fine.

Who fines the EPA and who gets the money? Maybe the state EPA will fine the Federal EPA in a sorry attempt to balance their own spending deficits. Poetic justice if they can pull it off.

This is NOT the Colorado River. It's a river in the state of Colorado. Big difference.

If the EPA was truly worried about us, they'd forced that mining company who stored that water in that area to treat the water till the point of "drinking water" quality. The EPA is here to kill all the stupid people. So please do NOT get in the bright orange water. Instead just use it for a toilet since that's all anyone can do anymore. I really hope this critical issue is rectified sooner than later. Good luck to all affected and soon-to-be affected!

No evidence so far to support the Jade Helm 15 Exercise bit. Who knows, it might be a part of the Jade Helm 15 Exercise for all we know for the time being. I don't think we can trust the EPA as far as we can throw them with our pinky fingers.
