The part that got me upset was where I read that Mark Phillips was denying the abuse and stories of other victims. No one has any right to call another survivor a liar; it is difficult enough for someone to come forward as it is. Also, the original question still isn't being answered I have of him.

Why would an abusive father send his daughter to him in the first place? I mean, what was the motive there, why risk it? That's the only piece of this entire thing that doesn't make any kind of sense to me, and what originally drew my suspicions.

Excellent point. What I find disturbing is the parents allowing Shaela to rejoin the Mormon church at the age of 11 because her friends all belonged. They act as if it was all just for fun.

What many aren't aware of is that the connection between Mormonism and mind control is very well documented. Joseph Smith the founder was a proponent and a perp. So under the circumstances, it occurs to me that perhaps the parents let Shaela go back to the church for reasons other than sleep-overs and pillow fights. Considering where she ended up, with the blessings of her parent, I think this may have been a long term goal.

They lived in Utah at that time where more mormons exist per capita than any other place in the world! It's quite normal for a young girl to want to belong to something her friends are apart of or else they feel left out.

You can't expect her parents to hold her hand and not let her out of the house until she's 18.
