HOW DO YOU RATE CALABRIA, ITALY AS A HOLIDAY DESTINATION?

Italy's wonderful IMHO.

I'd love to stay there.

Calabria's a poor region, but I'd swap it for what I have any day.

Man 2.5 the do have women there but dont touch its their Italian way but they dont mind touching your woman believe me.

I think it is excellent! I just spent three weeks with my wife and children in Palmi and Gioia Tauro. The people were great and I had a really good time. I made several friends there and now we meet each year for vacation there. The owner of the South Paradise Hotel in Palmi lended me a spear gun this year and I went out and speared my own fish which they cooked for me for dinner. If you want a great place to stay I would go there. If you don't speak Italian, ask for Robert when you call. It is a family oriented place with terrific food and great people.

Timing has alot to do with your vacation in southern Italy. It is best to go during the month of August when they have Ferra Agosto(Festival of August). They have alot of big sales, celebrations with fireworks, live bands in the center of the cities etc.

I love it there and we actually want to move there.

I had an uneasy feeling there and the youths who worked in the Hotel put on a " fireshow " which to me looked like some occult ceremony out of Eyes Wide Shut. That night my first at the resort I had a series of two nightmares the second one I can remember and will describe if anyone is interested.

Hey Op if you want to have someting more like to your own culture of the north you should not go down the extreme deep south of the italian country, or if you do be sure to not reserve an Hotel that is less than 4 stars...that if you want to have your cable news and english press air conditioner and so on..

If you go in a cheap place in the south you will have what you paid for, cheap here mean really chep.

Sicily is another thing because they are more turism oriented as is on of their only real resource. Especially oon the coasts, but in the center where mountain are...lol you better dont go there at all.

The last thing I would do or need when away is to have access to T.V,Radio or newspapers...U.K or otherwise...I go as far away from other human beings as possible ....with my family IF thwey choose to come along
