Depleted Neurotransmitters: One of the main problems we face as individuals and as a society and how to fix it
Updated 9/9/15:

One of the main issues we face as a society and as individuals is imbalanced neurochemistry -- specifically, depleted neurotransmitters.

Almost everyone is suffering from some degree of "false moods" that show up as almost any form of emotional upset you can imagine (anxiety, grief, fear, depression, anger, etc). These are not "true moods" based on reactions to external circumstances. Rather they are due to imbalanced neurochemistry.

This usually happens due to low neurotransmitter levels; and this in turn is often due to poor diet, drugs, alcohol abuse, vaccines, various other toxins, heavy metals, gut microbiome dysfunction, severe or prolonged emotional or physical trauma or stress, etc.

Many false moods arise from depleted levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.

Without enough serotonin we often become angry, negative, impatient, irritable, sensitive to pain, depressed, anxious, needy and overwhelmed. We often experience low self-esteem, low self-confidence, social anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, hyper-vigilance, obsessive-compulsiveness and the like.

Without enough dopamine we have no chutzpah, no get-up-and-go, no feeling of "I can do it!", and none of the focus and energy we need to make positive and lasting changes in our lives and in the world. Instead we feel apathetic, unmotivated, fatigued, moody, forgetful, unfocused, hopeless, joyless, with ADHD/"monkey mind."

While both men and women can experience low serotonin or low dopamine levels, in relationships a shortage of these neurotransmitters often shows up like this:

Women with low serotonin often become crazy and neurotic, wracked with anxiety over the littlest things, exaggerating everything, turning farts into hurricanes, and nagging the crap out of their poor spouse or significant other.

Men with low dopamine often become lazy, unfocused, low-chutzpah, good-for-nothing bastards who don't bring in enough money to pay the bills and expect their women to support them.

This can all be very easily resolved in most cases.

How? Amino acids. Google it, and check the thread I posted a while back, which apparently has helped a lot of people: Thread: Unhappy? Are You Ready to Feel Great?!! The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods

Get the brain chemistry fixed and you've solved the vast majority of individuals' and society's false mood/emotion problems. This, in turn, will go a long way towards fixing all other personal and societal problems, because most stem from out-of-whack mind and emotions. Emotions very effectively block effective discrimination and decision making, which is why you see so many horrible decisions being made in the world.

I just gave my 10 year old grandson his first whoopin, that fixed all his problems. He is now a loving, polite, helpful young man without an Ipad and now stacking fire wood. His first trip to the wood shed as they say.

No matter how messed up you are for whatever reason you must use self control, be willing to work your share and be polite about it or you are a problem for this planet and everyone on it.

Most of the above are usually the result of feeling discontented and dissatisfied, which is often caused by a lack of vital neurotransmitters.

The right balance of neurotransmitters tends to make you feel peaceful, happy, contented and easy to be around. There's no greed, selfishness or covetousness when one is happy and contented.

The "dumber than fuck" problem tends to have more to do with genetics probably. Not much will help with that other than perhaps cleaning up one's diet from brain-killing crap, and maybe some brain-boosting nootropics.

Indeed. Lack of discipline, poor upbringing and lack of basic values are also huge problems; but I think we'll leave those for another thread.

I read your other thread and purchased two bottles of 5-HTP. I did not notice any changes after one month. I guess I should have given it to my grandson lol. I will try the other bottle again. Thanks for the reminder.

Hi. Did you read the "Mood Cure" book yet? If not, please do that and take the 4-part questionnaire to make sure you in fact need it; to make sure you are taking the correct dosage; and to make sure you don't do anything that's contraindicated like take SSRIs or MAOs at the same time.

Here's the questionnaire you can complete online: [link to www.moodcure.com (secure)]

I don't take the capsules anymore. I use bulk powder. The caps are okay and I started out with them. But, they're not as pure, and the effect on me was pretty weak compared with the pure griffonia seed extract powder, which I absolutely love.

I started taking 5-HTP sublingually right from the start, emptying the cap contents under my tongue. Shifting to pure bulk powder, I needed much less, as there are no fillers. It's pure griffonia seed.

My partner began taking it too and the positive effect on our relationship has been dramatic to say the least. It's the ultimate "chill pill." Taken under the tongue, it immediately begins absorbing into the blood stream and most people can feel it boosting serotonin levels within 10-15 minutes. Best time to take it, I've found, is around 2 p.m. and no later than 10 p.m. Also, do not take it with a high-protein meal as it can diminish the effect.

I take the pure powder sublingually with only a tiny, tiny bit under my tongue 2-3 times per day. I take a heaping 10mg microscoop: [link to www.amazon.com]

I've never known 5-HTP to fail for anyone who uses the correct dosage for them, unless they didn't need it in the first place. That's what the questionnaire is for.

The book has all the contraindications and details and I cannot recommend it highly enough. That book (and I have no connection to the book or its author) would literally transform the world if everyone learned and applied what it teaches.

Here's the book: [link to www.amazon.com]

This is the bulk 5-HTP powder that I use. Currently it costs $21.96 for 25 grams and will probably last me two years: [link to www.amazon.com]

Story of my life dude. Both my serotonin and dopamine system are somewhat fucked.

I have been on and off antidepressants since I was 12, which I feel caused some damage to the serotonin system. Withdrawals were horrible.

I have also taken countless prescription amphetamines(Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin). These damaged my dopamine system as well.

I have the symptoms of women with low serotonin AND men with low dopamine...

I disagree.

I agree with discipline, but not beatings. To me, that's the "easy out" that parents often take when they feel helpless and frustrated with their child.

It's not a good parenting technique in my view, as most of the time it will be done out of anger and frustration, not out of love and compassion. It's the motive/emotion behind it that usually makes the difference.

It tends to do more damage than good in most kids, breeds anger and contempt, and then that anger/rage gets suppressed until it gets expressed inappropriately, usually at or onto someone much weaker than the child; usually someone they feel they can safely bully. So, beat a child and you can end up beating another child that doesn't deserve it.

You're also teaching the child it's okay to use physical violence when they're not getting their way or are feeling frustrated with someone, instead of your trying to figure out why the child is acting out or not behaving in the first place.

Heck, it could be the parents feeding them a fucked up diet. That's not a behavioral issue, that's a dietary and parenting issue. Again, I think it's laziness on the parent's or in this case, grandparent's part, to resort to a "whoopin" instead of trying love and understanding first.

I would say that you should also be personally open to a beating at the hands of your grandchild every time you make a mistake (and I'm sure you make plenty), if that's your chosen form of discipline for him.

Abuse is not discipline. It's usually mental laziness and a lack of creativity, with no desire to actually understand and help the child out of love. It's often an "I'll show you" ego statement, which appears to be clearly evidenced here by your being on here actually BRAGGING ABOUT YOUR WHOOPING THEIR ASS; in which case it would be pure ego payback/revenge/dominance, not love, compassion or respect for your grandchild. It's abuse. Don't sugarcoat it by calling it "discipline."

And, it may appear to work in the short-term, but there are definite repercussions/side effects that come out of beating a child "for their own good" like you just have.

I have to ask, did he actually physically strike you or did he simply raise his fist? If you were defending yourself, that's one thing, but if you merely took his obvious frustration and turned it into an opportunity for you to express your dominance and authority over him, that would not be good grandparenting. It'd be being a bully, which a lot of parents are these days because they lack the patience and love it takes to properly parent.

Getting both their own and their child's neurotransmitters in balance FIRST would go a long way towards helping them have the patience needed to deal with their child's emotions and would actually help the child become far more well-adjusted and well-behaved, unlike the many deviant children we're seeing these days.

And, making sure they are not getting pumped full of brain-inflaming vaccines and feeding them complete crap that fucks up their little brains and neurochemistry, would make parenting SO MUCH EASIER.

Again, I think it's often LAZINESS and an out-of-whack brain chemistry in the parents/grandparents that keeps them from properly parenting. Please educate yourself as to why the kid's acting out in the first place before beating him next time.

Many kids and adults have truly fucked up brain chemistry these days. Vaccines are a major cause, as are sugar, processed foods, bad oils, starchy carbs (breads, potatoes, candy, etc.), red dye #40, gluten (huge one), dairy and other common allergens.

Weird. I responded to this, saw it posted, and then it disappeared.

Sorry to hear about your challenges here. Please get the "Mood Cure" book, take the questionnaire and try what is suggested in terms of diet and supplements. I feel it will help you a great deal.

The cool thing about amino acids is you can usually tell if they're working or not within 10-20 minutes, especially if taken sublingually. Also, they're inexpensive.

Geezes, it sounded like you thrashed him. A little spank is not a whoopin where I come from. Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like a pretty mild reprimand followed by some decent grand-parenting by taking away his iPad and putting him to work.

Why a 10-year-old needs an iPad, though, is beyond me. Get him immersed in the real world and communicating with real people face-to-face, else like most kids these days, he's going to grow up with horrible social and communication skills (outside of texting, of course).

I seriously can't thank you enough.
I just started an amino acid regimen not too long ago and it has been making a huge difference in my life.

AWESOME.

This makes me very happy to read this.

What have you noticed so far?

And what is your regimen?

Omega Fish Oils: 3/6/9
GABA: 750 mg
Zinc: 50 mg
B-12: 500 mcg

Re: Depleted Neurotransmitters: One of the main problems we face as individuals and as a society and how to fix it
I only made the grandson pick up little pieces of wood for a half an hr. Then he wanted to use the maul to split wood and the ax and the hatchet.

Then he wanted to go scout out the dead smell of a deer some poacher shot or died of natural causes.

It was too cold to go swimming it the pond we built.

Then he shot his bow and by looking for a lost arrow he found the arrow he lost last year and the entire time wanting me to be with him and watch how high he could shoot over the top of 50ft trees.

It was a good day and he got off his Ipad and was so happy about it, he told me next time how to turn off wyfi and not have to break the Ipad.........

It was a great day, as he said the greatest day ever.

He got to duke it out with grandma and I did not tell his parents.

I disagree, when my kids dad died when they were born I raised them the same and very good. One went the other way and is too ashamed to come home.
