DISGUSTING AMERICAN FOOD: What part of the country has "real" food?
POLL: Best growing regions for organic, natural food in America?
 Willamette Valley, Oregon
 Western Washington
 Wisconsin / Minnesota
The South - TN, GA, MS, AL, FL
 Hawaii
 Upper state New York
 Iowa
 Blank (View Results)

Being in Europe, I see how disgusting American food is.

It is really, really disgusting in America. You can taste the difference in Europe, the food is wonderful.

The captive, slave Sheeple of America have NO CLUE what they are missing or what REAL food tastes like (even "organic" food in Whole Foods, for example, doesn't seem as good as food here).

Meat, for example, is very different. Eggs not only taste different, they have a deeper yellow-orange color, whereas American eggs look drained of color. Any meat item you have here has a deep, rich taste to it.

Everything here is much fresher, and the processed food here does not use HFCs or hydrogenated oils. Restaurant food is much higher quality and often times cheaper. Of course, use of the worst pesticides and GMOs is largely banned in Europe.

I was wondering what parts of America has the best food, locally-sourced, organic? Does anyone have an opinion?

The problem is the source. Even a fine restaurant in America may still source its food from conventional grocers. Even growing regions like Oregon's Willamette Valley may still use GMOs and pesticides, so even if it's fresh, it's drenched in chemicals.

I eat eggs from my own hens. The eggs are vastly superior to store-bought eggs, which are disgusting.

I would agree that most of the commercially-available food here is awful.

I did not realize how disgusting our food is here until traveling to South America.

The meat and fruit were absolutely amazing. Only fresh FL oranges at the groves could come close to comparing.

Wish I had the means to move permanently!

You are 100% correct.

As a result of our pathetic food, obesity is practically average. In addition, 3 out of 10 of today's teens are on prescriptions meds long term.

I've said over and over again that the US cannot be saved from its downward spiral unless this is fixed which of course it won't be.

If the US were a person, it's over eighty years old with a long list of ailments. A person like that won't make it to 90. Likewise the US won't make it to 2025.
Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved.

I have to agree with you on that OP. There is a distinctly different chemical "tang" in the USA as opposed to food in most of Europe, in my experience - especially the fruits and veg, and DAIRY! And people across the pond are more likely to eat 'in season' than we do in the US. GOD, I miss Dutch cheese on a daily basis! And the STRAWBERRIES - so fresh and sweet, nothing like what I've tasted over here!

You need to try eating only the locally raised pigs, cattle and free range chickens/eggs. There's a world of difference between them and the store bought crap.

I live in Portland and there are LOTS of great options. Tons of farmers markets to buy local fruit/veggies, homegrown eggs, local honey, local meats and fish, products made from these whole ingredients, etc.

There are some Co-ops that have a lot to offer as well.

Great soil for gardening yourself.

There are some raw food restaurants as well. Lots of vegan places to eat and TONS of vegetarian places.

My dad's business is actually in the heart of "Vegan Distract."

That's the crux of it :( :( Cancer has become a booming business here - people contracting it that have never smoked a cig in their lives. We have chemicals coursing thru our bodies that take months to digest.

It's a sad state of affairs when processed "food" is way less expensive than plain, unadulterated organic. As a society, we mostly can't AFFORD to eat proper food unless we grow it ourselves!

Those three states fall into the highest obesity category in the country which in 2010 was over 30%! The percentages have been climbing since 1985 so in 2015 it's possible that those three states are pushing 35% obesity by now.

If those states had real food, they wouldn't be getting so fat. What they have is cattle treated with weight gaining hormones, and like every other state, corn syrup in their foods.

 Quoting: KhansWeakerHalfBrother

The eggs I buy from a local farm are deep orange in color. I never buy them from a store. We will have our own chickens by next summer.

We buy our meat from a family friend who raises his chickens on his land and his cattle on Amish land. The meat from the grocery store looks gross and we haven't bought meat from a grocery store in years.

We get our goat's milk from our next door neighbor and hope to raise our own goats by next summer also.

We had been buying organic fruits and veggies from the store until we planted our own garden. What a difference that made. Our soil is rick and black. I'll never forget the first time I bit into a tomato from our garden. I hadn't had a tomato that tasted that good since I was a child and had forgotten how good they were. I couldn't stop stuffing them into my mouth. Even the organic tomatoes I purchased from the store tasted like water compared to the ones from our garden.
