Iran's Space Scientist Killed in Mecca Crane Collapse
Iran's renowned space scientist and university professor Ahmad Hatami has been one of the 8 Iranian pilgrims who died in the crane collapse incident in Mecca on Friday.

Iran's Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi announced on Monday evening that Dr. Ahmad Hatami, a science board member of Iran Space Research Center, was among the 8 Iranian pilgrims who died in the incident.

Saudi Arabia suspends Binladen group over Mecca crane crash
DUBAI -- Saudi Arabia has suspended the Binladen group, one of the biggest construction companies in the kingdom, from new contracts following the Mecca crane crash that killed 107 people and ordered the Finance Ministry to review its existing projects, Saudi-owned media said on Tuesday. The Bin Laden family who owns the construction company doing work on the Mosque, The Saudi BinLaden Group (yes.. same Bin Laden) stated the crane accident was "an act of God", not an engineering failure.

It wasn't a construction accident though, although this is how it was reported. It was struck by lightning. There's a pic of it in my earlier reply.
