We will see if it trends higher, they are releasing pressure manually so venting is worse than usual. I am more worried about the fact that low water alarms hit twice and they still don't know where the second leak is... Unfortunately all nuclear plants leak all the time, just some worse than others. And then of course there's this lovely history: On October 5, 1966, Fermi 1, a prototype fast breeder reactor, suffered a partial fuel meltdown, although no radioactive material was released. After repairs it was shut down by 1972.[1] Details: [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Founder of Nuked Radio Thread: MAYDAY: The Wigner Effect ”To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.” ~Thomas Paine |

The fuel assemblies are about 6 inches square by about 12 feet long. The turbine generator is an English Electric unit, but the company changed its name to General Electric Company later. The lowest Reactor Water Level (RWL) reached was 137 inches. If water level was at 137 inches, the fuel rods were uncovered by approximately 7 inches. 12 x 12 = 144 Not good. [link to www-personal.umich.edu] Bolles Harbor Indeed. As I stated on GLP a couple times in the past and included it in my book: ENJOY Chapter 14 - Orange Balls This is the story about the Orange Orbs witnessed by about 10 of my friends and myself on Lake Erie, Michigan about 1967. The story begins in the middle of summer in July as I recall on a very hot and humid night around 90 degrees. My buddies and I, who were called the “Cabot Boys” from Southwest Detroit was a hardened street group of white boys not virgin to the back seats of police scout cars or being thrown up against the wall in shakedowns by the “Big Four” vice squad. All of us had visited the jail cell on almost a monthly basis for minor and petty offenses and the cops knew us by first names. On this particular day in question we all got together and bought a case of beer, pop, chips, steaks and a barbecue grill to take out on a commercial boat owned by our buddy Ronald. The boat was an all steel commercial boat about fifty feet long with an overhead steel roof which was opened on all sides for fishing. At times we would climb up on the roof to take in the sites and get a tan as we enjoyed our smokes and beer. After we all pitched in and got our food we decided we would all go downstream from Bolles Harbor which was just north of the Ohio-Michigan border to swim in the cool waters of Lake Erie in the evening. The area that we chose as I recall was just south of Michigan’s nuclear plant known as Fermi and a few miles from the southeastern Michigan shoreline. When we got out to the area we would all jump in the water from the roof into the darkness. Ronald insisted to prevent any accidental drowning or mishap that everyone wear a life preserver as we bobbed up and down in the dark night water. It was a site to behold because all of us were smoking cigarettes and we looked like fireflies as we bobbed up and down on the waves. After about an hour or so of horseplay we all got out of the water to dry off to discuss where to cook the steaks and drink some beer. We decided the best place for the barbecue would be at the stern of the boat deck when suddenly Edgar who was having a smoke back there and staring into the darkness spotted what he said was orange balls flying up and down the shoreline near the houses on shore. He sounded pretty serious so we all went to the rear of the boat to look in the direction Edgar was talking about. Much to our surprise there looked like maybe fifty to hundred orange balls flying all over the shoreline. Someone said it was just static electrical discharges due to the high heat while another said it was St. Elmo’s fire. We didn’t know what it was but the orange balls got all of our attention for the moment. They looked like orange basketballs from a distance and about pea size. They would glow orange for a few seconds then blink off then on again for a couple seconds. With this blinking we could pretty much project where they would reoccur further down the shoreline because they traveled in straight lines. After awhile we noticed that these orange balls were heading in different directions and that they started to make their runs from the shoreline to out over the water. We all became mesmerized by this phenomenon as we watched while smoking cigarettes and wondered out loud about the possibility of what would happen if a ball came by our boat or hit it. We did not know if they were solid objects or what but we feared that they might be high electrically charged balls of lightning that could electrocute us as we stood on a steel boat sitting in water. As we watched these orange balls we noticed they got larger and larger as they got closer to us. That is they went from pea size to nickel size to plum size and then to an Oreo cookie size. As time went on we all noticed that these orange orbs were getting closer and closer to us when suddenly I brought to everyone’s attention what looked like an orb coming directly at us. We were riveted watching this orb as it made its departure from the shoreline and headed towards us at a very fast rate of speed while blinking on and off like a strobe light as it traveled. As we watched this orb we became very concerned which was a first for us hardened Detroit white boys as we watched this orb coming towards us. As we waited with eager anticipation the orb suddenly blinked back on and it was plum size and still heading straight for us. There was concern and dread among us as we watched the orb blinked off again and then wonder what would happen next. Suddenly as the orb blinked on again it was the size of an Oreo cookie and we knew it was close. When the orb finally blinked off we knew the next blinking on of the orb would hit the stern of the ship directly. In unison and without hesitation all ten of us simultaneously hit the deck facedown in fear of our lives to await impact. When everyone hit the deck my best friend Tom who was adjacent to me inadvertently pushed me and rotated me over so when I fell I hit the deck on my back face up yet looking out at the stern and starboard side of the boat with a perfect clear view of the water. As everyone was cowering down in fear for their life a giant orange ball about six to eight feet in diameter lit up about ten to twenty feet from me. The orange ball was not transparent or opaque but translucent where you could barely see through it. To my amazement and at pointblank range what was within this orange ball was what appeared to be a seat or type of ejection seat with a pilot wearing a grayish black flight suit sitting in the seat holding some kind of controls. The pilot appeared to be human and I’m guessing about six feet tall. Now that’s what I seen, but let me continue. As everyone got off the deck, I asked them, “Did anyone see the ball?” They all answered, “No.” I realized because I fell on my back instead of my face first no one else seen it. When I told them what I seen, they all got scared and I believe they thought it was some form of demon so we left the area and went closer to shore. LEGION |
