Multiple problems at site, Monroe MI/Lake Erie (SE Michigan) Reactor is in Hot Shutdown Large leak in turbine pump hose, but there's more. Unisolable leak in feedwater system. Meaning, they can't find it. Water level was 137 inches at lowest, at least that is what is being reported...meaning fuel have been uncovered. Anyone local with eyes on this plant? The NRC event is detailed here with add'l info detailing new leaks, etc. [ link to www.nrc.gov] If the cooling system is compromised, well. More on that later, hopefully it won't be necessary to discuss the ramifications of having a nuclear meltdown next to the largest freshwater lake system in the world. Oh, wait, they already had one there in 1966... "We almost lost Detroit" by John Fuller [ link to wsrl.org] I was there two days ago (Sterling State Park) within 1 mile from the plant on Lake Erie talking to fishermen who were catching Bass. Everything seemed fine at the time, I was smoking a cigar within visual distance of Fermi, didn't notice a problem. Next time I go which should be in a couple days, ASSUMING EVERYTHING IS OKAY THERE, I'll use my spectrometer and check it again in secret. Obviously, If I see or detect something I'll let you know and I'll bring it to the attention of the authorities. LEGION Got some eyes on this now in Global Rad Watch group. Your readings would be appreciated. I am 25 miles to the north/Pontiac area and we have geigers going already.
