I was in the Pacific Northwest and walking along a coastal overlook road. The water was maybe 75ft-100ft below the roadway. I come up to a green road sign that is covered in debris and vegetation, and that sign says "Cascadia" it's not named for a town/city... but it's for an entire region that it's named that. All around was total destruction and completely leveled buildings all into rubble. There were no people leaving that scene of destruction, everyone was dead. Make what you will of that. I do know however that when the CSZ slips or ruptures for real... it will be a disaster of biblical proportions. It will be horrific. The megathrust in Alaska 9.3 violently shook for 4 1/2 minutes. I don't know how much of that could be endured today. |

Yes, and the CSZ rupture is gonna be like a car getting T-boned in an intersection. The fault is nearly perpendicular to the coastline. |

I read that there is another dangerous fault the runs East to West through downtown Seattle called 'The Seattle Fault'. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8560883 [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Not only that but the very Northern Edge of the San Andreas intersects as well. They don't always work together but they have a few times in the past. |
