I remember when I was a kid, if the power was out phones still worked. But nowadays a lot of land lines are not true land lines. Growing up in the northwest, the power went out a lot in Fall wind storms. Cell phones weren't yet much of a thing in the late 80s and early 90s. So we had an "old school" non cordless phone. It was Mountain Bell, the Qwest, and now Centurylink. Beavers dropped a tree on our power lines about a week ago. Our landline phone still worked fine without power to our area. |

Did you know Verizon will cut the lines to them on homes when they come in to install their electricity-dependent land lines? Why should they be cutting access to that infrastructure? |
