Kids at concerts- and how ghetto is the SF Warfield? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 59205802 United States 09/25/2015 11:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I took my 4 year old daughter to DTE (an outdoor venue) to see system of a down. I got looks and was approached by someone regarding same thing, her age. We sat on back of hill and she danced for the entire show. Let them glare, let them judge but it was a bonding time and music as everybody knows can be filled with so much positive energy. We had a great time and fuck them. They probably got babysitters... I don't want to pay someone to ignore my child and watch TV when there's an opportunity for me to share an experience with my daughter. We had a blast, and have seen several more concerts at open venues since then. Consider it life units and time spent with your children that form memorable and positive experiences. Fuck what other people say... Talk is cheap. |

They're pretty laidback and I would expect we'd get at least two good hours in- enough to give them a better appreciation of the music. I remember playing "concert" for years after my brother and I caught the Smithereens. He would be the lead singer and I'd be the roadie. "You can't be the roadie!" He'd say. But the dude was awesome. He had nice hair. Anyway, my main concern is the wait outside. I keep hearing that there is sometimes a line wrapped around the block for up to an hour. We'd buy our tickets ahead of time, of course, but I hear that can still be a problem. And the Warfield is in the Tenderloin, which apparently has turned awfully ghetto in recent years. Still, don't we face dangers every day? Of course I don't want to expose my kids to unnecessary harm, but I do want them to learn to appreciate good music while they're young. And maybe it wouldn't be so bad for them to learn that the world is not always sunshine and flowers? Ugh, but bums I can handle, gangs I cannot. I just don't know! |

That aside I'd say this part of SF is far grungier than Fresno, at least it smells worse and you might see people using the restroom on the street since there's no public restroom/easy access in businesses. Lots of panhandlers/scammers that prey on tourists. Otherwise not too bad. |

That's why kids think we suck- we make them brush their teeth and such, but they don't ever see us having fun. I took my son to burning man when he was one and a half! Fuck the naysayers! Smoke moves up, not down to where a five year old is. I wouldn't worry about it. Take the kids along! |
