So let me get this straight you can't find anything in their central document to criticize?
 Quoting: Oxi moran

Yeah, seriously what is your point. I mean if you're going to make a thread like this, then take item by item and why you disagree with it. You're thread makes no sense whatsoever.

If you haven't fiqured it out yet- I have no problems with this creed! In fact it's spot on! All we hear on here is catholic bashing!

I am Catholic. Born and raised that way. Have been a Catholic for all my 53 years on this earth.

Yes, that creed is taught to us and we recite it at every Mass. In fact, I know it from memory. For the life of me, I do not understand what your criticism of it (and us?) is based upon.

Christianity (all denominations and none denominationals) believe a roman lie.

rome is edom and the successor of Babylon.

Osiris was born of a virgin and symbolized by a lamb, so we killed him on Passover lol.

Thus is a prime example of John 8:42 thru 47 . . .

John 8:42English Standard Version (ESV)

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”

so G-d who brought the Israelites out of Egypt is a murderer?

yeah I don't expect an idolater to think otherwise lol.

Because of the word "apostolic" the Catholic church is not following the teachings of the aspostles who taught us to serve others and feed the poor.

Remember when Jesus criticized the Pharasees for talking the talk, but not walking the walk? Bingo!

The Catholic church and other organized religions, are not walking the walk as Jesus taught us.

So, in answer to your question, I think anyone would see the operative word to criticize here in the creed is apostolic. The Catholic church is showing the world with all their opulance, that it is anything but apostolic. If they sold all the gold on their altars, and got the gold glitz out of their mass clothing, and truly served people as the apostles taught us, then they would be true Christians according to the teachings of Our Lord Jesus.

It is beautifully written and sums up all Christian faith (except for the word Catholic).

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70415143

You have no relation to the god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who is the one, true, almighty, God that I and we Christians worship because we are the people "Israel" of the Bible.

It was that one, true, almighty God who brought us (Israelites) out of bondage in Egypt, and it was that same God who smashed the jewish "temple" after the Crucifixion of the Christ, because that "temple" was nothing more than a den of vipers. It was that same Almighty God who rebuilt the "jewish" "temple" 3 days later when He resurrected Jesus and brought forth Christianity.

The Jewish "religion" was smashed by Almighty God Himself that day, and the fact that YOU choose to adhere to a religion which was smashed by God Himself, means that YOU are not of God.

Since you - and your religion - specifically and viciously reject Jesus (Y'Shua) as the Christ, you are anti-Christ.

Your deeds throughout history have been so utterly vile that they have gotten you ejected from country-after-country. So please don't try to claim you are of god, because you are not.

I am not Catholic, but I believe this creed also. These are basic Christian tenets, not exclusive to the Catholic church.

I don't agree with the Catholic church, or any other denomination either for that matter, on many topics. But there are a lot of good Christian people from almost all denominations.

Maybe your time would be better spent searching your own soul and developing some kind of relationship with your Creator. A good starting point would be the Gospel of John.

No denomination of organized religion. Just a Christian faith.. And a believer in the teachings of The Lord.

Yes, the Catholic Church as all other organized Christian religions have charities that do well. I've been to many of their gala events for fundraising. Where am I going with this? Do I really need to feel I am doing good for the poor by dressing in my fanciest dress to attend the $500 a plate dinner for charity? It just doesn't set right in my soul. Not criticizing Catholicism, I'm calling out all Christian organizations to hold up a mirror to their faces and ask themselves are we truly living and running our entities according to the teachings of a Christian faith? As in any entity, humans are humans and enjoy power and some are greedy. Let us all as Christians hold ourselves accountable as The Lord would want us to. Accordingly, all we do should be in thanksgiving that all power and honor should be going to Our Lord Jesus.... Not to be bowing to a pope or a fervent Christian pastor. I think I'm on the same page you are, and I'm just objecting to how all organized religions can lose that narrow path and easily be hypocritical in the eyes of Our Lord. We need to have systems in place that really get the money to the poor and starving people. Who was the "perfect" example in my eyes?

Re: What Catholics really believe!!!! It's all in the Nicene Crede!!!!
Here I'll help you out a bit. I was raised Lutheran and we were made to recite a version of it. I had a problem with being forced to recite things in general, I do not feel it is from the heart then. There are several versions of Niceene Creed.

The first part I had the problem with was God of God Light of Light. Are they saying he is god of light? What exactly does that mean anyways, makes no sense.

The other part I had a problem with was:

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Now in later years they took the Catholic out in some protestant churches, however, the meaning is still there. Personally, I don't put my faith in any church. We are not to put our faith in the church, but in God himself.
 Quoting: Shasta 22281908

Nor no I. But the word "catholic" here does not mean any one earthly institution. It means universal and it refers to the body of true believers as the body of Christ. There are true Christians in almost every denomination, including Catholic and protestant denominations.

Mother Theresa.

Re: What Catholics really believe!!!! It's all in the Nicene Crede!!!!
Its weird how they say at the end " I look forward to the dead being ressurected." I am sorry but I dont want the dead ressurecting. How can people not see through this. I really feel that it is very insecure people that want to be part of a group.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70219840

What most people don't understand is that everyone who dies is "resurrected" because their soul leaves their body at death and goes back to the dimension it came from. This was the reason for Jesus dying on the cross and being "resurrected" 3 days later. His spirit was seen by Mary and a couple of others. They were told not to touch him because he was pure energy and not solid like in human form. Christianity did not want people to know this because what would they need the church for? Think about it.

Jesus did not die for our sins. We are responsible for our sins and no one, not even Jesus, can do anything about it. It is all up to us. Christianity also didn't want people to be responsible for their actions, otherwise they could not contribute to the collection plate. Think about it.

Even evangelicals believe that
 Quoting: Oxi moran

All religion is man-made in order to control the masses. It has very little to do with God or Jesus in a true manner. It has people believing in the religious fairy tales from birth onward, which is why most people never question them but perpetuate the stories to their own children. Mass hypnosis at its finest.

99% of catholics have no fuckin clue what they believe.

Religion is only for idiots. Ask a catholic a question about what they believe and you will find yourself talking to a 5-year-old.

Don't ignore this statement:

"Begotten, not made..."

This is the cornerstone of the Catholic religion.

As for the Nicene Creed in general, it seems to be so benign that I do not understand the contentious tone of the post title?

Catholicism is such a vanilla religion, perhaps intentionally crafted to be universally accepted.

Then why is there a bible if all we need is a creed. Hopefully they concentrate on the creed and ignore the Pope. Jesus is King. Read the Bible.

No, it most definitely did not. It was officially adopted at the First council of Constantinople in 381 AD, and it still took several centuries to fully develop the doctrines.

It was only had to be adopted as an offical statement as response to the heresy known was Arianism, which is same heresy you Unitarians adopted in the 1500's.

Also the The Ecumenical First Council of Nicaea of 325 found Arianism to be heresy.

Unitarianism is pretty much just a rehashing of the same heresy that's was rejected by even pre-RCC Church fathers as a heresy.

You lost at the council of Nicene. Arianism was again declared a heresy at the First Council of Constantinople of 381.

Give it up.

Nope. Arianism was debated at Nicea 56 years earlier not Constantinople, and even Nicea didn't present a developed trinity. And this is almost four centuries after Jesus. Fact is the holy spirit wasn't even promoted to person- and Godhood at Nicea. And even after Nicea several bishops retracted the votes they felt they were pressured into. Constantine himself also converted back to Arianism and Arianism remained the dominant faith in East Rome. The trinity was invented between the 4th and 7th century after Jesus' earthly ministry. A man-made lie.

Not that I care about any of this; I don't do man-made doctrines invented by apostate bishopes. According to the Bible, Jesus, God Himself, the prophets of the Most High God, there is one Most High God, YHWH alone. Jesus called Him Father. According to your own words, Jesus was a heretic. That says all I need to know about your faith.

"Unitarianism" is the faith of Noah, Moses, Abraham and Jesus. What would I care about the man-made doctrines of the harlot bishopry?
