I am Catholic. Born and raised that way. Have been a Catholic for all my 53 years on this earth. Yes, that creed is taught to us and we recite it at every Mass. In fact, I know it from memory. For the life of me, I do not understand what the criticism of it (and us?) is based upon. UPDATE: As I perused the thread further, it became clear that Oxi Moran is _not_ criticizing me/us and so I re-worded my reply accordingly. Still, I do not see why we Catholics are so maligned. Because of the word "apostolic" the Catholic church is not following the teachings of the aspostles who taught us to serve others and feed the poor. Remember when Jesus criticized the Pharasees for talking the talk, but not walking the walk? Bingo! The Catholic church and other organized religions, are not walking the walk as Jesus taught us. So, in answer to your question, I think anyone would see the operative word to criticize here in the creed is apostolic. The Catholic church is showing the world with all their opulance, that it is anything but apostolic. If they sold all the gold on their altars, and got the gold glitz out of their mass clothing, and truly served people as the apostles taught us, then they would be true Christians according to the teachings of Our Lord Jesus. It is beautifully written and sums up all Christian faith (except for the word Catholic). So it's ok for Orel Roberts, the Mormons, baptists, Lutherans, episcopalians- to have big expensive churches?
