Past unknowns is similar to present unknowns in their day. I went last year or the year before to the Lewis and Clark site where Lewis’s grave stone is. Their expedition was a moon shot in its day and very esoteric as there was 33 soldiers and guides on an 8,000 mile journey of over two years. Trip began well before the 8,000 miles as preparations for future challenges in an uncertain future.
Cleverly, they lined barrels of provisions with lead to keep dry and for ammo. The iron that held the barrels together for trade


The reason was the world was changing fast in the early 1800s. That trek brought in rural living compared to city dwellers on the coast and in 1935 congress transformed the rural lifestyle on epic proportions all on the idea that rural deserved the same luxuries as the cities have. The electric cooperative movement helped jumpstart the changes and this all propelled global advances. Without it, technology wouldn’t be where it is today and is still in unknown territory.
