On the same day that Pearl Harbor was attacked Japan also attacked Hong Kong, Singapore and Malay.

For Canada Hong Kong was significant given the size of force they had stationed their to protect the Island.

If you've not read the battle of Hong Kong I would recommend it, the atrocities carried out by the Japanese on wounded Canadian soldiers as they lay in their hospital beds at St Stephens will cause you pause for thought.

All very sad, British nurses tied to the dead bodies of the wounded Canadian soldiers they tried to protect and then repeatedly raped are quite harrowing stories..

So, why should a Canadian declaration of war on Japan be linked to Americas declaration of war?

what most people don't know is that Hitler declared war on the US after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor ...

big mistake - FDR had been trying to move that agenda along but hadn't been able to move the marker .... Hitler did FDR a big favor by taking away that discussion ....

the US almost went to war solely against Japan ....

another fact:: Canada declared war on Hitler & Nazi Germany one day after Britan did in 1939, which was some 2 or 3 full years before the U.S. even entered WW2

the Japanese had organized and totally sanctioned rape during their entire conquest campaign .... where ever they went brothels were organized by kidnapping local women ... there's white female military personnel that were sent off to the brothels - some white interned civilians as well ....
