Trump for President: Ford changing it's plans to build a plant in Mexico and instead moving it to Ohio clearly shows what a "doer" like Trump can accomplish with only his words. There are no indications that Trump had any direct involvement but the argument that Trump's comments, combined with the fact that he actually does what he says, put pressure on Ford and strengthened the union's position giving us a positive result for Ohio's people and economy.

Before the Free Trade began, many Baby-boomers were doing quite well economically, yielding the fruits of many years of hard work and progressive increments in success. Since NAFTA was passed there has been a giant sucking sound as Ross Perot predicted and American industry and jobs have been exported from America, often the relocation of these factories paid for by the US State Department under special grants.

These large American international corporations have been able to drastically lower their labor costs while charging about the same for their product in America, thus being able to make vastly increasing profits. Cheap Chinese goods (which are now rising in price by the day) kept the American public appeased and unaware of the dire economic descent that America had been set upon by these Free Trade Agreements.

Has nothing to do with Trump. Ford will do whatever is economical for it to do. Youngstown/Ohio probably offered a huge tax incentive for them to move the plant there. If you haven't been to Youngstown, it is one of the poorest cities in Ohio - a real dump - and the labor pool there will also likely be much cheaper.

With barely a month to go in its contract talks, Ford Motor Co. has thrown a meaty bone to the United Autoworkers Union. And it may also take Ford out of the presidential debate, where it recently became a target of Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

Negotiations got off to a slightly testy start last month following news that the second-largest domestic automaker would likely move production of several key small car lines from Michigan to Mexico. But this week, Ford began production of heavy-duty versions of its F-Series pickups, which previously were built in Mexico, at a plant in Ohio: a move that will "secure" more than 1,000 union jobs.

"Our investment in Ohio Assembly Plant reinforces our commitment to building vehicles in America," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas. "Working with our partners in the UAW, we found a way to make the costs competitive enough to bring production of a whole new generation of work trucks to Ohio."

This marks the first time the F-650 and F-750 models will be built in the U.S. The big trucks, heavy versions of the more familiar Ford F-150, were completely redesigned for the move, which was announced in March 2014.

Opened in 1974, Ford's Ohio Assembly Plant currently employs nearly 1,400 people and is one of the largest employers in Lorain County. In addition to now producing all Ford F-650 and F-750 models and configurations, the plant also produces the Ford E-Series cutaway vans and stripped chassis.

If Ford didn't believe that TRUMP would change the manufacturing situation caused by the NAFTA bill and realized that if that bill was repealed or a 35% tax would be instituted there would no longer be a free ride bringing cars into the U.S. Their profits drop would make it impractical to make cars out of the country so TRUMP is a positive force in making JOBS stay in the U.S.
