I am reminded of Gordon Freeman's unpleasant experience in the original Half Life video game - having to cope with the results of a bunch of dipshit scientists that opened a portal to another universe and were quickly overwhelmed by the otherworldly creatures that came through.
A very similar scenario is played out in Beyond 2 Souls, where Jodie Holmes has to call upon her spirit protector, Aiden, to roust a bunch of evil, malignant entities that had also entered our time/space though a portal that more dipshit scientists had created with their technology.
Almost seems these video games are introducing the concept that CERN may actually open up a portal to another world.
Can't wait to see what happens, but I bet it won't be pleasant.
