The unbelievable gulability and lack of even high school level logic on display by flat earthers and their "proofs" is depressing.

People need to get out of their damn basements.

Was this posted by a bot? They forgot hotpockets and back and to the left

No, I'm not a bot, and I don't eat hot pockets or kfc.

As a basement dweller I'm sure you are confused how one can subsist without hot pockets, but it is possible.

What ever any a tempt to converse with someone who thinks planes and helicopters would fly off into space if the earth was round is going to be nothing but frusteration.

Just reversing your comments, nothing more. I did fix your spelling of gullibility though, im not fixing your other mistakes.

Anyone who watches that 200 proofs video and makes it beyond
the 8 minute mark after it is suggested a plane would be 80,000 feet in altitude and fly off into space if it was not constantly correcting it's trajectory deserves to be dumb....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4565532

I'm a flat earther and I haven't seen (yet) that video.. but
I was converted instantly because someone reminded me that
ship-radars really can "see" other ships (in a straight line)
from 50+ miles away, and also, many ancient lighthouses used
to be seen from 50 miles away.. and finally I remembered that
most missile guiding is inertia based (gyros) and they
wouldn't use it if Earth and the solar system and the galaxy
and the entire universe would've been in THAT constant
motion they say it is, because it will render its very
ability to anchor in the stillness of aether/space (and not only to this "planet"..) useless for an application that
requires anchoring only to Earth's surface.
These are the proofs that worked on me:

The US Navy Missile Instructor video is a gold mine.

Active FC1 (SW/AW) United States Navy
NATO Sea Sparrow Surface Missile System Instructor
Master Training Specialist

Confirms:

1. From everything he has observed with military equipment during his last 5 year tour, there is absolutely no curvature to the Earth.

2. There is no coriolis effect taken into account with the ranged weapon systems he has been working with for 10 years. The world isn't spinning.

3. That navigation systems and maps currently being used by the military on the open oceans are completely wrong.

And much more.

Why don't you flat earth kids ever try the obvious.

Get a high powered laser, one of those green astronomical ones.

Get a laser reflector, the ones used for fire detection systems.

Get a surveyors tripod and mount the laser and set it to say 11 inches.

Now go mount that reflector plate to the top of any grain bin in Illinois or Iowa.

Drive a mile away check your elevation, and confirm a reflection.

Now keep doing that, mile after mile after mile. By your logic you should always be able to get a reflection despite your elevation.

Go...try it.

Or try this, get a record player, one of those that hook up via USB to your pc.

Then get a GI Joe action figure from your basement.... er bedroom.

Sit the guy on the record player and shot one of his action figure misses straight up.

See the results....let it sink in, then apply what you saw to reality if you can.

Good luck yessir

If Earth were truly constantly spinning Eastwards at over 1000mph, vertically-fired cannonballs and other projectiles should fall significantly due west. In actual fact, however, whenever this has been tested, vertically-fired cannonballs shoot upwards an average of 14 seconds ascending, 14 seconds descending, and fall back to the ground no more than 2 feet away from the cannon, often directly back into the muzzle.

.....I think the point being made was that you can duplicate this experiment on a small scale and see that on a rotating object, things launched vertically will tend to follow the direction of the velocity of the "relative" stationary object.

You can do this with a rock, pick up a 1 or 2 pound rock, run and then throw it up vertically, by your flat earth logic it should come straight back down and land near the point it was launched.

What you'll find is that more often than not, the rock nearly hits you in the head as you travel forward.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69496699

Right well there is this thing....

Angular momentum

The gyroscope remains upright while spinning due to the conservation of its angular momentum.
In physics, angular momentum (rarely, moment of momentum or rotational momentum) is the rotational analog of linear momentum. It is an important quantity in physics because it is a conserved quantity the angular momentum of a system remains constant unless acted on by an external torque.

Angular momentum is related to the rotation or revolution of matter. It is, in effect, a measure of the quantity of rotation of a system of matter, taking into account its mass, rotations, motions and shape. The conservation of angular momentum explains many observed phenomena. For example, the increase in rotational speed of a spinning figure skater as the skater's arms are contracted, the high rotational rates of neutron stars, the falling cat problem and precession can all be explained in terms of angular momentum conservation. It has numerous applications in physics, engineering and everyday life, for instance, the gyrocompass, control moment gyroscope, inertial guidance systems, reaction wheels, tops, flying discs or Frisbees and Earth's rotation.

So you crazy people who don't under stand air density and rotational properties of systems versus localized agitation are like kids who only know Algebra 1 trying to calculate gravity.

You guys would be correct if you assumed a non rotating earth and every time you tried an experiment you expect result congruent with the earth instantaneously accelerating to 1000mph.

All these toss something into the air and it should land to the west since you are spinning east do not understand some very basic principles of matter.

A helicopter can not hover uneffected by the angular momentum its atomic structure was under when it lifted off the ground.

You know what...you all are way to under-educated for this kind of explanation.

Here -- go find a merry-go-round in a park, and do your expirment, stand on the wheel and while its spinning and jump.

Prepare to have your mind blown when you land in nearly the exact same spot you jumped from, just like a cannon ball fired from a spinning globe.

Then if you can, try to figure out why you fell down.

Re: GLP Poll: Globe Earth or Flat Earth?
Nothing is solid, everything is constantly in motion. The vibration lengths of particles (or energy levels) create our perception of mass/density. Perhaps instead of the center of the Universe, we live at the edge of the visible universe from this vibration level.
I think it's impossible to know the shape of planets if you do not know the true shape and geometry of your galaxy/ universe. As you get into the "vacuum" how do you really measure something that cannot really be felt or seen.
