I cut mine off. I have a stack in the back and the sides come down to a point in the front. I have bangs and it is cut to frame my face. I am not going back to long hair again.
I am really out of the sexual game, so I don't have any desire to appear appealing to men. It is really liberating. I get to be myself now without having to think about what some man is going to get aroused about. I am getting old and I like it. I wouldn't go back to 18 unless I could take everything that I have learned back with me.

You'd think if the argument was framed this way your son/daughter would get it: "You'd look good with your hair right here *point to a body part on your son/daughter, whether that means cutting hair or growing it out* Reply given would be "But I like my hair the way it is!" And you could reply, "Exactly. And that's why I like my hair the way it is." I like doing things my way. If I want to cut my hair, I'll do it. If I want to keep my hair the way it is, I'll do it for myself. I really don't care if the average person thinks it looks awful or if the fashion industry dictates that long hair isn't for adults.
