I know. They can afford to get their teeth fixed but don't. Laziness or they just don't care. Or maybe who they really are is showing up in their physical state.

I think many people have going to the dentist no matter what. I know I hate having my gums or teeth messed with.

I think many old people just brush and floss, and don't worry about it. So as their teeth wear down, they basically let it go.

I don't watch much tv, and definitely do not watch politicians do their thing and lie, but it seems most celebrities have perfect teeth, even the old ones

For my .02 I would recommend a waterpik and get the 70 USD version with waterflosser.

Makes a huge difference with infection, I have perfect teeth (knock wood) but my lady suffers with normal lifetime of what life is, and it knocks the fuck outta teeth OP.

Teeth are kind of a modern fetish, dentists make way too much on them, I'd employ 1 million youths as dental Doogie Howsers and give dentists a knock in the moneyteeth, hehhe their union needs a bit of humbling.

Seriously tho OP, George Washington had dentures and was a badass, so just love old folks OP, don't be all like that.

That's what I always said. But with a price tag of a minimum of $5000 to fix them - it's been delayed for 2 years. My teeth look like hell and all have to come out. And that's after spending decades and the cost of a small house to keep them this long.

Dental insurance is expensive and barely covers anything, has yearly maximums and has year long waiting periods on major work. So you have to save up for it. To get the really nice implanted dentures - you're looking at around $30,000 for the cheap ones.

It just sucks really. I'm running out of time myself - I'm gonna have to just take on the debt and do it next year. My teeth are starting to hurt all the time and I'm sure my cracked amalgam filling are slowly killing me. *sig*

My teeth stain easily which is why I stop drinking tea, coffee, and even wine for periods of time and use peroxide and tanning booth to whiten my teeth without seeing a dentist...I've never had a cavity or any teeth problems.

Stay away from sugar, clean away plaque (floss daily), and you will NEVER have problems.

That is not true. Some people just have bad teeth.

As a kid, I did all the things. The the dentist would spot a small cavity, "just starting" - he'd drill in to fix it. And find a huge gaping hole of a cavity on the inside. My teeth decay inside out. :(

By the time the can see the cavity - it's too late. There's absolutely nothing I could ever do to stop the decay. It's just the way it is. My mother always had bad teeth too. But I really really tried to keep mine. 13 root canals, 7 crowns, 2 extractions, 2 bridges and lord knows how many fillings. My current dentist, fought me hard on going with a plan to get dentures - then he did the x-rays. He apologised and said no one should have to go through all the dental work I have. And wrote up the plan. It's the 21 extractions (not a single healthy tooth in the bunch, all have root canals or fillings) that are gonna cost me so much.
