1 Chronicles 21 Part 2

satan had encouraged King David to count his army . David was taking inventory of his weapons , when he had never won a war , God had.

God is very angry at David for this and will be punished.

9 And the Lord spake unto Gad, David's seer, saying, 10 Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the Lord , I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee. 11 So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord , Choose thee 12 Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the Lord , even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

We know David is in a time of making bad choices , we all do. No matter how much we love or fear God, we all make bad choices , we all listen to satan as David did ... The hardest thing about being human is is knowing what is of satan and what is of God. It is easy for us to see what is of satan in stealing , murder or a chemical attack. It is much harder to satan in counting our army... It is harder to see what satan is doing when we do not have faith in God, to do what He has called us to do. No one knows this better than myself.

Verses 11 and 12 are worded a little different than in the Book of Kings but the choices are the same . Three years , three months or three days . Three days does not seem like such a hard punishment right , most of us would have picked three days?

14 So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men. 15 And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. 17 And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

One of the very reasons the Lord placed on my heart “Drought of the Heart, “ was we had left the Lord God of King David in the Old Testament...

God is a God of war, earth is His battlefield. We are either in His army or satan's , there are only two choices.
Exodus 15:"The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name.

His weapons are seen in a plague or hailstones. See the list in Job 38 , Matthew 24 or what he used against Pharaoh in Exodus.

When we have a plague do understand the Angels job in this story? Do we fall on our faces and repent. Jesus did many things for us but He never changed Who God is. We do not have a Gad as David did , we have Jesus , Romans 8:Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.

Jesus did many things but the war is not over yet and the Lord of King David is the same God we have. I am in shock everyday that someone tells me , I do not read the Old Testament , that has nothing to do with us. satan was busy with David and he is very busy now whispering lies...Pestilences , floods , storms , droughts and much more , is all to remind us Who God isand why we are here ... Yes , God has Angels with swords to do His will everyday...Do we know what that is or when we have followed satan's instructions and not God's.
We may not understand this in our comfy homes here in America but ask the people of God in Syria if the war is over ? Did you know Syria has been in drought since 1990???Maybe if they remember why God allows droughts , the hearts would fall on their faces and God would end the war...

1 Chronicles 22 and 23

1 Chronicles 22:8 But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. 9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.

Each generation God raises up people for His purpose it was true with King David and now.

We have lost two people of our generation that shows this to be true. When Mr. Graham died the words “morality has died.” He was all about morality. When Mrs. Bush died the words “peace and order have died.” She was all about peace and order.

We only have to read the news to know this is true. Solomon built a great Temple for the Lord but it was not long before it was destroyed.

1 Chronicles 22:13Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

This held true then and holds true now.

1 Chronicles 23:32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord .

Jesus went to the Cross for us to no longer build earthly temples but hearts , souls and minds , that love God with all three...
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

Even though we are in a time of war from our families to nations , we find peace in Jesus Christ.

1Chronicles 25:1Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was.

God is amazing how He took a man of war to show us how important music is for the soul. We only have to sing Amazing Grace to one of our top 20 Christian song now, to know He loved music then and now.
God did not stop making sons and daughters of Asaph...
To see those words “prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals,” is enlightening. I know there are many songs today that prophesy to us.
There are songs to be careful of and always have been that we have to be careful that are not Scripture based but sound very pretty. We have to know Scriptures to be able to tell what is of God and what is of the world in anything from teaching to music.

Today and everyday take a few minutes and worship the Lord with an instrument or song. King David shows us how important it was and is...
