I know a little man who could use the prayers of the GLP prayer warriors.

I graduated high school with his mom. This little baby is such a fighter! He and his family could use all the prayers they can get. Very sad, but things are moving along in a positive (mostly) direction.

Absolutely! His name is Brady. Here is the original post on his page...

Brady spent the first four months of his life catering to other people. He let his parents sleep eight to ten hours a night, he wasn't fussy about the type of formula he was fed and would immediately snuggle up with anyone who needed a baby fix. At two weeks of life Brady already had a facial expression for every situation and over the first four months his biggest smile would be elicited as a result of any adult conversation he was included in. July 7th, 2015 brought one of the most vibrant and easy-going little boys into this world.

Life can change in a second and for Brady, and his family, that second was on November 17th, 2015. On that Tuesday morning Brady was enjoying his day with his Grampy Hogan. Grampy's home spun tales are always riveting and even at his young age Brady had developed an appreciation for Grampy's treasured "lost art" of whistling. Tuesdays were good days.

When an early lunch time rolled around, Brady was lounging on his play mat and began to fuss for his meal. Always catering to his grandchildren, Grampy stepped two rooms over to prepare Brady's bottle. When he returned it appeared as though Brady had fallen asleep and he was no longer interested in his bottle. From there, long story short, Grampy picked Brady up to change his diaper a few minutes after finding him. Everything appeared fine, Brady was warm and still seemed to be sleeping, until he was put down on the changing pad and Grampy realized he was non-responsive. Even before dialing 911, Grampy began CPR and then continued under the direction of the dispatcher once on the phone. Grampy saved baby Brady's life. Plain and simple.

From that moment on, everyone involved was an integral part in continuing what Grampy began: saving Brady's life. The quick response from the City of Lynn's finest saw him through to the ER at Salem Hospital. The nurses and doctors at Salem were fast acting and thorough, getting Brady as stable as possible and passing on the baton of care to the Med-Flight team. Brady and his mom flew with the experienced team of three on the 8 minute helicopter ride to Mass General, where they continued to be attentive until everything was set for the pediatric icu team to take over. From there, over the next hours, days and weeks, the Mass General picu team worked tirelessly to ensure that Brady experienced the best outcome possible.

On this toughest of tough days, the boy who previously catered to everyone else was rewarded with the love and care of his grandfather and strangers who all made it their job, at one point or another, to do something big or small to save his life.

Due to a lack of oxygen, Brady sustained brain damage when he stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. In the picu, Brady underwent cooling protocol to minimize brain swelling and prevent further damage in the days immediately following his injury. Although Brady underwent an in-depth battery of testing, no cause for this incident was found. Doctors have used the term "near SIDS" to describe what occurred. Brady is treated for seizures as a result of his injury and although he can now breathe on his own, he has a trach to protect his airways until he is able to develop a swallow, gag and cough. For the same reason, he also has a g-tube used for feeding and delivering his medications. We know Brady can hear and he responds to touch. At this time he cannot see, although he may sense some light.

After three weeks in intensive care, Brady was medically stable enough to be transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation center where he receives daily therapies to facilitate his progress and will continue to get stronger.

The end result of everything is Cerebral Palsy. What that will look like in terms of mobility, communication and cognitive functioning is still unclear at this point. CP can mean a lot of different things. Brady's doctors and parents will give him the best care and therapies they can and the rest is in the hands of God and Brady himself.

As Brady travels on his new path, emerging from his brain injury and rediscovering who he is and what he is capable of as a new little man, his family could not be more supported by the medical professionals who have worked, and are working, tirelessly to give Brady the best care possible. Brady's extended family, on both sides, have burned the midnight oil taking shifts to ensure that he always has visitors and that his parents are well fed. His parents' friends have come in droves to show support in person as well as through messages, calls, texts, and generous gifts. Complete strangers have reached out to offer prayer and support for Brady and his family.

Brady is such a loved little boy. More than just hearing and seeing, he and his parents FEEL the love, support, prayers, well wishes and hope from the family, friends, students and strangers alike who are all pulling for Brady Robert.
