I got a couple of prayer requests, my friends.

I got a call from my mother at 6:45 CST this morning, saying that she fell and hit the corner of the chair, and gave herself a black eye. She fell while trying to get dressed. She is 93, and frankly, she is at a point where she needs 24/7 care, or at least someone to stay with her around the clock, even though she still does most everything by herself. We currently have her partially covered. A CNA is there 2-3 mornings a week, my nephew is there 1 morning a week, and my oldest daughter is there 2 mornings a week. My mother doesn't want anyone to live with her, and refuses to live with anyone. We are in a quandary here.

My sister-in-law Bev is not doing well. When we went to see her yesterday, she seems to have the oxygen on permanently now, instead of part of the time. She is going for extra dialysis, and she has gained all of the weight back. She is extremely swollen, too. I think a lot of the weight gain is fluid retention.
The most disturbing thing, is that the fingers on her left hand are turning black. They are not bruises, it is gangrene. It looks like she is also developing gangrene in her left arm, as it definitely looks like a lot more than what bruising looks like. She previously had both legs amputated just below the knees, and there is no doubt she needs some fingers removed. Bev doesn't know her fingers have turned black, as she is blind. We did not say anything to Bev about her fingers.
Watching her trying to feed herself using those black fingers just about wrenched the heart out of my chest.:(
I ended up feeding her.We end up feeding her every time we go there to see her, if it is meal time. At the nursing home, no one feeds her. They just put the food in front of her, and walk away. She has to be assisted, as she has little to no feeling in her hands, and cannot see her food. She ends up grabbing the food with her hands, but drops a lot of it all over herself, as she cannot see what she is eating, and can barely feel what she is picking up.
I honestly do not think that they will medically intervene with the gangrene. Bev is not too old, she is 66, and is not ready to give up, but they have written her off. :(

This really did bring tears to my eyes. Prayers said.
