First of all, thanks to all for their thoughts and prayers.

First visit to vet just happened.

Took a few samples - all looked clear - maybe inflammation, but last time she had cancer, it was surrounded by inflammation. On the upside, hopefully her body does that and it would surround any cancer to keep it isolated. He's worried because it's close to where a lymph node is, but checked all the others and they all seem fine. With her history, chances are it's SOMETHING, but at least there were a couple good signs. Plus he said it's more in her shoulder, not her neck, which could be a lot trickier. Based on how it feels/the location, he thinks he can get to it and get it out, but we have to wait and see what the biopsies say - will hear back on Thurs.

Decent chance it will have to be operated on and taken out no matter what they can tell, but we'll cross that bridge in a few days.

Thanks again everyone - I'll update as I learn anything.

UPDATE:

Vet called tonight - got the results back - same spindle cell cancer that the previous two were. He thinks it's pretty much the entire lump. It could be a tricky area near blood vessels, but he thinks it's high enough on the shoulder that he should be able to get it. If it's too complicated, he'll send us back to the place he did for the first time where it was actually on her spine - that was over 6 years ago. They specialize in more complicated operations.

As long as it can be gotten to, I don't worry. She's had worse before. I put it in God's hands and pray that we get to hold her for several more years to come. Whatever happens, she's been the most life loving creature I've ever seen and it's been awesome getting to watch her. I'm not ready to lose her yet, though.

Operation will be on Friday. I'll update at that point.

Thanks again.

UPDATE:

Unbelievably, for the 3rd time, I think she's dodged a bullet. He said it was pretty contained and that he thinks he got it all without having to go much into surrounding tissue. The one place he did was into the muscle of her upper leg, so she's in quite a bit of pain today, but as far as the cancer goes, it bought her some more time. It's a slow growing type, but grows out tentacles and can be really hard to treat if you miss any, and although she's had it now 3 times, it hasn't been too much yet. Thank God! :)

Thanks again to everyone.

I'm just looking forward to her getting around better. She ate good night of the surgery - pain meds were pretty good, but she's REALLY sore today and barely moving at all.

But she'll be here for a while longer, at least, and that's all that matters. :)
