Daily Prayer Thread !!!Plus The Word

Today was trying again, with my mother. My brother and I have received input from all the medical people who have cared for my mother, and they all say, 24/7 care or a nursing home. :(
It has really got to that point. We are going to look into a short stay for her, just to give everyone a break.
I got a call from her a little after 8am. My husband answered the phone, as I was in the bathroom.She said she had the flu and needed cough syrup,and she can't get a hold of my brother. She said she gets a message from the operator
(recorded message) to put 1 before the number, or the area code. He is local, and lives closer to her than I do. Most of the time, she cannot dial a phone number correctly. So, I try calling my brother, but there is no answer. He went out to eat breakfast before church.
He checked his caller ID when he got home,called here, and went and bought her cough syrup. It turns out she had a full unopened bottle on her dresser. :(
So, the church he goes to, has a service earlier than mine, so he gets to my mothers a bit earlier than me. She was scooting around the house in her walker before I got there, and then went to bed just before I came over. She had said nothing, before she went to lay down, about her recyclables and garbage needing to go out.I filled her oxygen machine water container, stayed for a bit, then left. My brother stayed there longer,took out the lawn waste bags, and then left, as she was still sleeping.
I get a call from her again at 4pm. She is frantic about her garbage and recyclables not going out.She said she is so weak and sick with the flu, that she cannot get out of bed, and needs someone to stay with her overnight. My oldest just walks in my door. She volunteers to go over my mothers to take out her recyclables and garbage. My daughter stays there for a bit, to visit and do other things for her that my mother requested.She told my mother she cannot stay overnight, but will be there early tomorrow morning, as usual.My oldest sits with her grandma on Monday's and Wednesdays.
As soon as my daughter comes back into my door, my phone is ringing again. It is my brother. My mother must have called him as soon as my daughter left. She claims she is starving, and has not eaten all day, which is not true. She told my brother that he needs to come over her house immediately, and open up a can of soup for her. My brother is about ready to pull his hair out in total frustration. He goes over there and opens a can of soup for her.
We have all got to the point, where we can no longer handle all of this. I am waiting for more calls from her tonight. :(

Praying for you and your family. Sad for your mom. Sounds like she wants to have someone around constantly. : (

It's wearing for all. And I will pray hard for you all.

She may actually need someone around constantly but that's a hard road to travel for her family. She sounds like she is very forgetful and anxious and that could be dangerous.

Praying for Tiger and her family, including her mother, and that God directs them on which way to go in terms of keeping their mother safe and feeling secure. Please know, Tiger, that sometimes a family can only do so much and at some point assisted living accommodations maybe indicated.

We absolutely do not want to put her in a nursing home.My Dad died in a nursing home when he was 65 years old. He had emphysema and dementia. We had no choice, as he was violent. He tried to kill my mother. He threw a knife at her.When he was in the nursing home, I went to visit him pretty regular, until one day he literally tried to strangle me.I only went a few times after that. My mother only went to visit my Dad one time in the 2 years he was in a nursing home.
It was so very indescribably hard seeing my Dad rapidly deteriorate. Dementia made him the opposite of the kind good-hearted person he was before he got sick.

I never asked for anything. But I think maybe it is my time to do it. I'm havin a certain issue. It has something to do with my health and I may have to find a new flat because of it. I haven't been so lucky until now, so..
Maybe if you could save a prayer for me, that would be awesome.

My coworker Tim Griego just found out this morning that he has an aggressive form of cancer. Please pray that the lump which was already removed a few weeks ago, turns out to be the only cancer that was in his body. Please pray that he will have a clean bill of health and that he and his family will feel the Lord's peace and strength during this time. He and his family are believers. Thank you.
