Dear Heavenly Father we thank You for this day, we ask Your love be felt here today and around the world let Your light shine that any that will receive will and have us do Your will , this world is hard Lord and many suffering in different ways and places let Your Kingdom Come , be with this election , show us what we need to know , we lift up Italy that is feeling the earth shake daily ,let them find You in the rubble , help us all see our calling and walk it out in here and out there , we pray for any members sick, lonely and financial needs be met this week in Jesus name amen.

Prayers needed.

My mother is stronger today, thank you all for the prayers !!!
My brother checked into home health care for my mother 24/7. You would have to be very wealthy to afford it. The cheapest was $12,000 a MONTH. The highest was $18,000 a MONTH.
There is another option, a multi level care facility that also has apartments for those elderly who can do SOME things for themselves, and need just a minimum of care. It would be $3,700 a month. My brother said they do a sliding scale fee, so maybe the $3,700 is negotiable. Right now, the cost for the part time care in my mothers home is about $900 a month.
My mother has been begging for more care and for someone to live with her part time/stay overnight sometimes. This is not going to happen seeing the cost.
We are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Ephesians 5:29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

Offer someone a room to stay there is this an option ?

That's so crazy!

I'll tell you though, when my husband's Grandmother started going down hill (and it was really bad) we hired a family friend to come and stay Monday-Friday, we fed her and let her stay there so she basically had a second home, we didn't pay even the $3700!

I'm willing to bet you could find a "sitter" for just part time easily, it would take some time to interview them all, but it would likely be worth it. I wish I were close by, I'd come sit with her

I have suggested this to my brother. This has been tried back a few years ago, before she got to this condition, and it lasted 2 weeks. :(

We have been trying to find someone, but there is no one available within the family or friend circle. Everyone works full time. I did suggest to my brother that a college student might be a good option. We have 4 colleges here in the immediate area, Purdue, Indiana University, Calumet College, and Ivy Tech. My mothers house has a studio apartment attached to the back, with a private entrance, and when unlocked, access to the main part of the house.
The problem is my mother, as she is difficult to deal with. :(

How about extended church "family"?

How about a single nursing student / nurses' assistant who may want / need a living arrangement of some type?

Perhaps contact hospitals / nearby medical facilities & inquire about folks needing a stable place to live.

Is there a local nurses union / association that you could contact?

Psychology / sociology students?



Heavenly Father...please send these folks an angel in disguise to take care of Mom

We will explore all options. As for people from their church, that is where my brother went to seek help, and all he got was referrals to high priced agencies. :( My mother hasn't attended her church for decades, but is still on the parishioner list.No one ever comes to see her from there. My brother belongs to this church, also, and is a regular attendee.Their church is very liberal.
I go to a different church, but our congregation is very small. There is no one available from my church. :(
