Some people interpret that to mean that if we sin AFTER we have accepted Christ, then the sin nullifies Jesus' sacrifice for us and we are condemned once again.

This cannot be true, as Peter had both denied knowing Him and previously had cut off the ear of the Roman. And Doubting Thomas refused to believe in the Resurrection until he had see and touched Jesus.

God knows that we as humans are basically unable to completely stop sinning. Repentenance is the key, as throughout the OT God continually had the prophets tell the people to repent. John the Baptist stated such in the NT, and Jesus first words of His ministry were "Repent for the Kingdom is at hand".

Amen!!!

My husband grew up being taught that once you accepted Christ and continued to sin you would lose your salvation. The church he tried to take our family to teaches that you can pray and pray and pray and try to walk in the footsteps and words of Lord Jesus everyday and still go to hell.
This bothered me tremendously as like you said the Lord knows that because our spirit is within this sinful flesh we can not completely stop sinning. Repentance is the key. Honestly coming to the Lord and asking his forgiveness and once again picking up your cross.

This upbringing my husband had is one of the problems we deal with as a couple in Christ. I pray for him everyday that the Lord will show him that he is not lost and nothing is too large for the Living God! I struggle with him wanting us to attend this church as he sees its the only church and anyone who doesnt attend it will go to hell.

I will have to remind him gently of both Peter and Thomas and make a bible study out of these scriptures. Thanks for reminding me too that we have to DAILY bear our CROSS for the Lord.

AMEN.

Yes we will sin everyday but to continue in a sin once we know it is wrong is wrong , The Cross was not for us to abuse

Yes it is wrong GFG, but as the Bible states many times..."the flesh is weak".

Not sure where your head is on this. If you're trying to point out folks who deliberately sin while constantly thinking that "I'm a believer...I have no need to worry", then I think that this is a "fine line" in the sand. The percentage of Believers who do this is pretty small.

I don't consider those folks true Believers because of their intent, frame of mind and condition of heart. They would have no remorse, which means that they don't repent.

And remember what Jesus said in Mark 3:22–30 and Matthew 12:22–32.

31 "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Yes, a true believer strives to be like Jesus and would not want to sin it is a daily walk.

Matthew 7:21New King James Version (NKJV)
I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Amen GFG! We must crucify our flesh daily and carry our cross. We must strive to be like Lord Jesus!
