When I was young I lived in a town blown away in a tornado. We lived in the country and many of us in a cellar when this happened. Luke 8 :22-25 is one of my favorites to remind me Who controls the wind. We all have that one person in our lives that helped create fear in us. I had an aunt that was terrified of storms even in a cellar much like the Apostles in the boat with Jesus. Faith is really tested in the face of a storm like the one I saw as a child. When I saw all the stories coming from the storms this weekend and we have a great chance of them again this week, I reflected on Who the winds obey. Peter is our example several times of what true faith does and does not look like. One of those is when he got out of the boat to meet Jesus on the water but when the winds picked up he sank, Matthew 14. This planet has many things to cause us to fear from tornadoes , earthquakes to war . Many believe nature is random , many know I do not . When anything comes at us from waves to wind ask Him to calm the storm. Peter and the Apostles where blessed they actually had Jesus as their teacher and yet they still had fears . When Jesus suffered on the Cross , died then rose , He left us the Holy Spirit we are not alone in any circumstance. I often think of how those Apostles ate , slept , walked and prayed with Jesus , yet their faith did not hold them up till after The Cross. That Power lives in us if we let it in.
