Prosperity


The world has always judge people by their worldly successes and possessions. We can look down even on our Christian bothers and sisters and judge by this.
I am still in Genesis and today as I read about Joseph and came to these verses,2 The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand , I paused.

If we stop right there and not look at the whole life of Joseph we could come up with what many use as, if the Lord is with us we are successful in this world.
Looking back he was hated by his brothers , almost killed , thrown in a well and sold as a slave. God took all that and used for His purpose.
It is not long after the verses of 2 and 3 ,Joseph ends up in prison due to the evil wife of his master. This life has nothing to do with the success and prosperity of this world. This life is about this verse after Joseph is in prison, 21But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

God can allow us worldly success and prosperity, but it has nothing to do with us. Joseph and Job are awesome examples of how things are given and taken away. It is the time things are taken away true faith is seen, tested and built.
God took all the cruelty this world gave Joseph and used it for His glory , that is what all this is about. God chose and loved Joseph , it was not what Joseph did but what God did in and with his life.
Our greatest reward is yet to come, this is just a threshing floor. Never look at anyone through worldly eyes . The world is so indoctrinated in this mind set , weak believers or non believers look at any true believers and judge by worldly success and prosperity. If they are in a well or prison like Joseph then they think God does not love them.
