Deuteronomy 23 , The Congregation of The Lord , love it...I know why God has me in King James as I was brought up in this version . The wording is so different in many places , I have heard most my life I read this or that version because I can understand it better. God kept me away from most new versions and showed me He is the one that makes me understand even in a old language. There are version out that leave out and put in so we have to be very careful.
Verse 3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord ; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the Lord for ever.

Paul when he writes his letters always addresses The Congregation of the Lord as a place or city. One example 1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God which is at Corinth ...

We have made a hash of God's Congregation but every once in a while we get a glimpse of what He intended . We can be those people at weddings , funerals and special occasions but are divided in Sunday morning. Sutherland Springs under that tent with the whole community was The Congergration of The Lord. He took tragedy and brought Glory to His name.
Today I prayed we would become The Congregation of the Lord. Pride and money will stand in the way but Matthew 19:26 tells us , But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
We do not own anything , we are stewards of what God gives. There is much in that chapter but this is a great message for us all. satan likes it when we are divided that has been his job from the beginning.

Verse 5Nevertheless the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.

We are to never have anything to do with balaam and this shows us God takes a curse and turns it into a Blessing , because He loves us...

Deuteronomy 24 is a great reminder the people in the days that Jesus walked on earth , knew God's words and commands as we should. When we know the whole word of God then when we read a chapter like this , we see Jesus repeats what God had already said. Jesus had to teach the hardest to the ones that only knew half the story.
When I read the first section about marriage verse 3if the latter husband detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his wife, we see Jesus explained the same thing.

Matthew 5:31 “Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

The woman at the well has so many messages in it, today it is what Jesus did for us in this passage. I divorced and remarried . I did not even ask God about getting married my first go, I did everything on my own. Once we hear His voice as in this , John 4 26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am He.” Our life should look different no matter how difficult . Since I now hear Him , I have never wanted to repeat that sin or many of my sins of long ago.

The chapter goes on how to treat each other in many things, read it and see Jesus in it.

Verse 16“Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin.

We see the Cross and Holy Spirit in that verse . Romans 2 tells us it is a personal relationship, we have choice as repeat the sins of our fathers and mothers , or not.
The last section we know Jesus tells us over and over to take care of the ones listed in this passage.
Verse 19 “When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands

James 1 :27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

I can not imagine what it was like to be Paul. We can see why Jesus chose such a strong character to keep the churches accountable and not stray. To face the gentiles with a message not known to them.
I am studying Paul right now and I cry at how many beatings he took. God helped me find a message in those beatings. Sharing the word of God was never easy.
We live in the age of tickling of ears. We do not want anyone to tell us what sex we are much less any hard teachings of Paul and the Apostles .

We live in a culture of make me feel good about everything and we do not understand how to feel bad and hurt as they did . Pain like Paul felt was a reminder Who saved him on the road of death...
Yesterday when I heard this , I was humbled. 2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Look at our world right now we have generations that could not take one of those stripes. We do not want correction as Paul had to do. We are exactly where God told us we would be. 2 Timothy 4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Timothy , Paul and all the first teachers Jesus raised up , suffered for the truth. If we are not suffering are we tickling ears ? We should ask God to never let us be as in 2 Timothy 4. Saul thought he was right in his life , Paul shows us there is only One right, One that is good. Back everything in this life with the Word of God , we are in a sea of deception...When we are called to build each other up , it is not what the world does, but to take comfort in the Word of God and know this life will hurt and to build each other up knowing what Paul said is in this verse is what we feel good about.

Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
I have often thought from my comfortable chair, how I would stand up to real persecution as they did before us . We have been blessed so far in America and just do not receive likes for the Word or lose friends . Times have change in my life and now people are losing their jobs , funding and other things for standing in Truth. This story should make us all close our eyes and ask God to keep us in His truth, to not get so comfortable we could not take a stripe. Are we removing words to draw in to make each other feel good as in this story below that breaks my heart. Understand what times we are in...
