Joshua 22 part 2 shows how fast things can change even in the same chapter. Verse 11 Now the children of Israel heard someone say, “Behold, the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have built an altar on the frontier of the land of Canaan, in the region of the Jordan—on the children of Israel’s side.” 12 And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered together at Shiloh to go to war against them.

“Heard someone say,” without the facts almost caused a war against each other. I got in trouble many times as a child for things I did not do and most of the time was not allowed my side of the story. There are always two sides to a story and no action should ever be taken without hearing both sides.

Joshua is true man of God and knew the rules God had set up and carried them out. Verse 15 Then they came to the children of Reuben, to the children of Gad, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them.

I have always been one if I had a problem with someone I went to the source , I grew up with” heard someone say,” and never like it. It only takes one generation to forget , they know this , forty years in the wilderness is still fresh...In fact it can happen within the first generation . A great message in this forever. Now we understand why , Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

If they had not known what God said to do in such a matter the outcome would have been very different...
satan uses hear say and gossip it can start a war and end relationships, we are to not let him have a foothold. Go to the source , work it out with Jesus as the mediator... Even if it is not received there is peace found in following the commands of God ...
