Luke 12:53 Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

In this chapter we have deception, suicide , secret intelligence and some tired and hungry David followers.

God is not slack in His promises , just like He told the people what Saul would be be like when the people wanted a king, He told David what his life would be like after the Uriah event.


2 Samuel 17 :19Then the woman took and spread a covering over the well’s mouth, and spread ground grain on it; and the thing was not known.

Of all the things that happened in this chapter, I love the woman and the well. It was words of warning sent to David that saved him that night . It was a woman and a dry well used that sent me to , John 4
11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

What is happening to David in 2 Samuel 17 , happened a long time ago. A thought came of what if David had the whole story like we have , would he have taken something that did not belong to him, something that looked pretty, like that fruit in the Garden.

Since the Garden we know we are flawed , we forget just like David forgot what this is all about. We forget the role of satan , the role of earth , the role of pleasing things earth offers.
Luke 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

David was in a war , we are in the same war, it is easier if we never let a day go by without reading the Bible and praying to the One this is all about...

We take the Bible for granted. We can read how our life plays out in that great Book. We are blessed , I wonder if David could have read 2 Samuel , if he would have made better choices. The story of David is for us all , there is a little bit of David in all of us. Today we have words of warning and a living well to draw from. The greatest thing for us to take away from the life of David is , ask God before we make decisions of any kind...
