1 Kings 4 is one of the most dangerous places to be in our lives , yet that is where we all long to be.

20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

27And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

31For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

Drinking , making merry, dominion , peace , lacking nothing , fame and wisdom, wow...

Jesus suffered and died on the Cross to tell us we do not want those things on earth , we long for our treasure in Heaven.

Luke 12:33 Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.
We are given the story of King David and Solomon to know what satan offers vs what awaits after this life of thorns.

I spent most my life seeking all Solomon had , most of us do. That is why we work at jobs we do not like or spend long hours slaving for the world to save. God has blessed us with story after story of what to , not want and why we need Jesus.

Today spend some time on how much of you life is spent on the things of Solomon and then look at how much you have given for Luke 12:33 .

Every time something earthly is taken away , try and see the grace, mercy and blessing in that and do not replace it with anything that will not be treasure in Heaven.
