Matthew 27
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

One of the hardest chapters in the Bible to read is this one. Judas loved money but saw Jesus did not save Himself and could not live with what he had done. This chapter shows us what we are like without the Love of Jesus. Terrible ,evil things where done to Jesus by people that believed in God and studied Scriptures.
Nothing makes me sadder than to hear people say, more people have been killed in the name of God than anything. The fact is Jesus never told anyone to harm a flea much less a human. If people are killing people in the name of God, they can be found in the crowd of chapter 27. They can be found as the chief priest and elders.
Matthew 27:19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him. 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

Peer presser is deadly. The churches around the world are full of chief priest and elders making decisions that are mocking the Cross.

Matthew 27:6 But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.” 7 And they consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. 8 Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

They refused to take money obeying a law but abused and hung Jesus on a Cross. Today ,right here in America we are obeying man made commands and ignoring the Commands of God. Jesus suffered and went to that Cross to do His Father's will. We have the Scriptures and Jesus left us The Helper to not be in the crowd of chapter 27...
