My mother is in the hospital. Right after I logged off GLP this morning, I took Jewel out for a walk, and came in to find a message on the answering machine from my mother's CNA that my mother was taken to the hospital by ambulance. So, I was at the hospital ER with her until about an hour ago. My brother Kenny came, but had to leave, and then my oldest daughter Mary K came and stayed with me until my mother was settled in a room.
My mother has had chest pains. My youngest daughter will go there later to check on her. I am staying home for now, but will probably go back to the hospital later. It could be her pacemaker acting up. She is also retaining a lot of water, and they gave her lasics(sp) in the ER.

We must take each day at a time, and trust in God. Each new day has it's own troubles, so why fret about tomorrow. Take each day at a time, and roll with the punches.Yesterday I was overjoyed, and today I am worried, and very tired. As for tomorrow, only God knows.

Please keep my mother and also my brother Kenny in your prayers. Kenny is very sick with the side effects of the heavy duty chemo they are giving him. He is losing his hair, his hands are numb, his hearing is affected, he cannot taste food, losing weight rapidly, etc. Kenny is tall, about 6'1" or a bit taller. He has gone from 190 pounds to 155 pounds in less than a month. His skin is literally hanging from his bones.

Prayers going up for your mom, your brother and your family.

 and for your family.

If they are giving her Lasix and she is retaining fluid and having chest pains, there is probably fluid on her heart and they probably suspect congestive heart failure. Don't let the name intimidate you, it is treatable and not as bad as a heart attack.

Regarding your brother, chemo is tough but is survivable.

It sounds like you are going through a lot and having to take care of many. Hugs for you and can relate as I am the caretaker of my family too.

I went back to the hospital this evening. My youngest daughter went right from work to check on her grandma, and had left just before I got there.
They have run a bunch of tests and are going to do a doppler echo cardiogram tomorrow for my mothers heart. The nurse said the CHF was real bad.
Her doctor is supposed to come tomorrow.
My brother Kenny came in to see her also.I was there for about 1/2 an hour when he came, but we left pretty soon afterwards when she told us to leave. She has been rather spiteful, mean and nasty to us, and the medical personnel, like usual. We are pretty used to it.
My brother is so sick from the chemo, I honestly do not know how he is able to do anything at all. He is so sick from it, the doctor stopped it for this week, but that just adds another week on to the regimen. :(
Hugs to you, my friend!hugs
Jewel
