Luke 6
40 "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."

When I read this Samuel kept coming to mind. So went back and read the beginning of that great story. God created Samuel to be under the teachings of Eli. Funny the sons of Eli that he raised was just a mess. We can read the first teachings of Jesus in Chapter 6 and see why we are a house of great ruin. In Scriptures the Eli's or Samuel's where few and far between. Back then everyone else was to be under who God chose. For many years in Montana God had me under Mr Begg and I am thankful for that. Samuel's mother Hannah became one of my favorite people and her prayer says it all.

God picked Eli , God picked Samuel ,Eli did not pick Samuel , I am sure as a parent he wished his sons had that place in life ,I would have. We have set up a system that Eli decides who does what and where and therefore we have a house of ruin.

1 SAMUEL 2
1 "And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. 2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. 3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed. 4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. 5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. 6 The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. 7 The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: He bringeth low, and lifteth up. 8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and He hath set the world upon them. 9 He will keep the feet of His saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. 10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall He thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and He shall give strength unto His king, and exalt the horn of His anointed."

Everything is about God, Him, He and His are very clear in that prayer...God help us

There has been a song stuck in my head for a couple of days now ,that today made me have questions. The song is" Jesus in Disguise. " Why did God create a King they did not recognize ? They knew He was coming and many are still waiting so why didn't God allow them to see Jesus as the King?
John the Baptist knew what to look for and there is one of the answers. John the Baptist a man in the wilderness eating honey and locust is not someone we would have chosen to be the messenger for The King. We would have never chose David to take down a giant or be a King. We would have never chose Peter to feed the sheep. God never has done things or chose people as we would. We have to be very careful to not be looking for anyone or thing with our eyes or minds...

I think about that sometimes. Why would He choose me or why did He choose any of us that He did. I don't know why, but it is awesome that He did.

It was lovely to see the post. I don't follow American politics, so don't know much about the man, but I was shocked to see so many people say they are glad he is dead.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for the likes of Cameron, Blair of now T May, but still would not be rejoicing when any of them died, despite what they have done.

If they have done a lot of wrong, then people should feel sorry for them - they are going to meet their Maker and will have to explain their sins.

I’m also struck by the fact that Eli’s sons were disobedient and Hannah and Samuel were not.
It really does matter to God.
