Corinthians 14:3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 39Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

I have never been to a 1 Corinthians 14 church. Every gift from God is to be used in and by the church. I am guilty of coveting music and singing, I was not given that gift. How ironic the gift we are to covet, is the most unpopular.

The gift we are to covet the most, is rarely seen. Bad moves and bad Prophets have taken the gift God used the most in Scriptures and silenced it. We set up our own rules of how things should be done.

Who on earth wants to be the carrier of bad news in our feel good culture. Jonah did not want to do it, Moses did not want to do it and during bad times Elijah hid in a cave.

Who on earth wants to listen to a Jeremiah ? Does your church have an Anna ? Who wants to hear a John the Baptist and the message of repentance?

We do not even want to associate Jesus with “wrath to come,” much less preach it.
We don't because we are in “2 Timothy 4: 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
