Husband Update.
This is getting more involved with Roy. They are doing the lung biopsy tomorrow at 1pm, but are also doing a thyroid and lymph gland biopsies, and checking his throat, too. His lungs are full of holes from the emphysema, and the mass in his lower right lung is about 3 1/2 inches in size. The surgeon expects Roy's right lung to collapse during the procedure, and will have a Pulmonologist there in the OR. If Roy's lung deflates, and doesn't reinflate within a minute, they will have to put a tube in and attach a pump to keep it inflated. This is becoming more serious as it goes along. Thank you for the prayers !
Quoting: tiger1 I have worked in many different areas of nursing but one of my specialties was in pulmonology on a ventilator unit in the latter 1990's. Your lung will often deflate in procedures like this and a chest tube will help it re-inflate. They keep it in until the lung can sustain itself on its own. As far as biopsying the lymph nodes and thyroid, this is also common with a big suspicious mass that is showing up in his lung. Keeping your husband in my prayers.
