I went shopping, got gas, talked to the nurse navigator on the phone for quite a while. I am Blessed to have my youngest here at home, as it gave me a chance to get out of the house, mail bills, and do other errands.The biggest treasure hunt was finding a particular type of bottled tea that is my husbands favorite.The 3rd store I went to, had it. Roy is deteriorating. There is no doubt the cancer has spread to his brain.He can barely manage a few steps without great difficulty.He lamented this morning, that the new truck he got to replace the junker in October, is sitting in front, full tank of gas, and he will never be able to drive it again. At this point, he can't go out of the house.His days are bed/sofa/chair. There is a possibility that as the cancer moves through his brain, and other parts of his body, that he will lose any mental capability, and could even become violent. The nurse navigator was repeatedly asking me if I thought I was in danger, and I repeatedly told her I was not, and have a good support system here with my 3 daughters. Roy refuses to have anyone over here except the girls. He wants nothing to do with any doctor, and doesn't want hospice or a hospital bed. He really doesn't need a hospital bed at this point. He needs pain relief, but will not let me call the doctor. Morphine would be helpful, but he is afraid of being addicted to it. His upper back and his rib cage are extremely painful. The 4 vicodin a day is not doing anything, and the alternative herb is really not helping. So, we are at a standstill. I am praying that he passes in his sleep, painlessly and peacefully, as he is suffering terribly. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |
