Daily Prayer Thread !!!Plus The Word

Rough night. I put Roy to bed at 9pm, but he didn't go to sleep, just tossing and turning and mumbling.As I was getting ready for bed, he said "don't leave me here by myself". I went to bed at 11pm. Roy was talking total nonsense, and was occasionally yelling. I tried my best to calm him down, but couldn't.

The last time I looked at the clock, it was 1:38am. I guess I finally passed out shortly after.Roy was still agitated when I passed out. I woke up with a start at 5am. Roy was playing with a lighter on the bed. I told him to stop, that he shouldn't be doing that. He said it was OK to do that with that lighter. He lit it a couple of more times, then finally stopped.

I couldn't go back to sleep. When Roy got up at 7am, there was a mess in the bed. I washed everything. I will have to get a new mattress in the future.

Roy is totally incoherent today.He has taken his medicine, but has not eaten yet.I put up all my guns, but can't find his.I have looked everywhere. I need to find his and put it up too.

Financially, we are not rich, but so far are keeping up with the medical bills.Our only income is social security and his small pension of $171 a month. My needs are minimal, and I live simply, so we are OK. Roy has no life insurance. I will have to sell his truck in the future, and that should cover the funeral expenses and hopefully any leftover medical expenses.

Dealing with the terminal cancer itself was bad enough, but the loss of mental function is so much worse.

Roy is doing badly today. He had 3 grand mal seizures this morning.I called the doctor, asking if he could up the seizure meds. He won't unless I take Roy to his office for a blood test. There is no way Roy is going anywhere. The doctor told me, since Roy can't go to the office, maybe it's time for hospice. I nixed that, too. Hospice will not provide any more care than what Roy is receiving now, and Roy wants no one over here anyway.The 1 hour a day hospice would be here will do no more than what we all are doing.

I don't think Roy has very long. I would not be surprised if he dies today. I am sure the cancer in his liver, as Roy is yellow and his belly is very distended.

We are all crying here, my 3 daughters, Mary K, Elizabeth, and Alexandra, and me. I nixed the idea of any of the grandkids coming over, as I would rather them remember Roy as he was.
