The mattress is in the alley, and Alexandra is picking up a new one at a store in Elk Grove, Illinois, the closest place still open, an hour drive from here in Hammond Indiana.

Roy will have to sleep on the sofa. It is low, and my 150 year old high bed is too dangerous for him to sleep on. If it gets messed up, I can either toss it or get it reupholstered.

That is with the cheapest casket and cheapest vault.The cemetery grave opening will be $1,800 unless it is on a Saturday, then it will be $1,900.I am glad I bought 4 lots many years ago, or the cost would be at least a couple of thousand more. I have been procrastinating on calling, but seeing how Roy is going down, it was time to make the call I dreaded to make.
