On a somewhat related note, know that if you ship
using a UPS STORE, you will be shit outta luck if
the item gets damaged or lost.
I learned this the hard way: UPS Stores are
individually owned FRANCHISES.
Although they are "affiliated" with UPS, UPS
has zero responsibility to you the customer.
You can buy insurance, but they don't tell you
that the actual insurance you buy:
is a legal agreement between the franchise and UPS -
meaning if you make a claim, it has to be with
the franchise. BUT the franchise can then file a claim
themselves with UPS, get a payment and keep it.
UPS told me over several phone calls that they couldn't
even give me any information about the claim,
because I was not a party to this franchise-UPS
agreement. (for the insurance)
The franchise refused to provide anything, info,
apology for their packer breaking the item, and
certainly no refund.
I'm sure they got their $400 refund and fucking
kept it.
I used to buy tons of stuff on ebay - lots of
electronic instruments, gear etc.
The items that the seller took to a UPS store
to have packed were 100% of the time,
packed for shit.
The owners were too stingy to use enough bubble wrap etc.
And whoever they hired to pack stuff, must have had
an IQ in the negative digits.
