Are ISIS, al Qaeda and Boko Haram fighting for supremacy?

Last Friday, ISIS struck Paris, yesterday al Qaeda hit Mali and earlier today Boko Haram struck Nigeria. In all, 189 people were killed and scores injured. However, the bigger questions that we should all be asking is, are these three groups fighting for the bigger picture?

ISIS is getting a lot of press because of the attacks in Paris, yet if it weren't for the terror attacks last week, the incidents yesterday and today would get very little press. But they are and because of this, these organizations are more likely to ramp up their attacks on western targets.

This could be very bad news for the West in the short term. Why? Well, for one, ISIS is the most powerful terror organization in the world, they got that way from being better at using social media, delivering on promises made and attacking in spectacular fashion.

Al Qaeda and Boko Haram, both have been relegated to the back seat because of how sophisticated ISIS has become. But in order for both groups to remain relevant, they must change the style of how they attack. For al Qaeda, that means, attacking soft targets, getting the most bang for their buck, versus using a long methodical process hoping to pull off a huge 9/11 style attack.

In Boko Haram's case, they need to move from Africa and actually move west and hit targets that broaden their cause.

This is all bad news for American's and the west. It's bad news because most of our agencies are running around like a chicken with their head cut off, trying to put gum on holes on the hose.

We don't have the man power to protect people. In some cases, when we do stop an attack, it only a matter of hours before it was to take place when officials raid or divert the actors.

I fully expect an attack here, it will be spectacular and it will help those pulling it off recruit more to their cause. But my question is, who will it be? What group will take credit for the attack?
