A glimpse into a bygone era
I've discovered the Chicago Tribune archives. What a trip back in time.

[link to archives.chicagotribune.com]

just enter a date. I like looking at the 20's, 30's and WW2 era. For example, enter December 3, 1941... Choose a return abnd then scroll to the top to start on the front page...

It's intersting to look at prices and then enter them into the inflation calculator to see what people really paid. In 2015 dollars, it was not uncommon at all to pay the equivalet of $1,000+ for a radio. A radio made in America, by Americans, with solid walnut exteriors.

And compare prices of thanksgiving meal items. A turkey was the equivalet of nearly $80!! Of course they were all farm raised and antibiotic free...

There are a lot of ads for musical instruments.

No TV back then.

No funny pages. The funnies were put at the top of pages by them selves. And they had plots!

No TV. The funnies were very popular.
