Anyone had success importing goods from China for resell in the US?
I've done this before in the past. I imported unbranded, generic style goods. No knock offs. I had pretty good results doing this, and have decided to go back into this on a small scale, and try to break free from the system that enslaves us. Just wondering if there are any like minded individuals out there.

I've wanted to, but have been ripped off in international deals before, so I'm hesitant. If I spoke mandarin or had an inside hook? I'd like to. Any suggestions?

Just use Alibaba , most of businesses in my area started importing supplies directly , by container - Cuts material cost in half, maybe more

Chinese speak English quite well , just word of warning - there are close to two billions Chinese , many are unscrupulous con men . On Alibaba website deal only with proven 1000+ feedback company . Most common fraud is bait and switch to lower grade

Explain how are you breaking free from enslavement by selling goods made by Chinese slave labor? All for the almighty dollar. He who enslaves others is never truly free.

If you don't move forward -you stay behind .
USA is 90% of everything imported from China. Adapt and take advantage not resist like stubborn mule

Structure of business purchase is such :
small volume - use Ebay
good volume - Alibaba
Chinese Company prices gods at warehouse , they will help with shipping if asked . Average shipping cost of Container is $1700 , pickup at US port or if live inland - need to get another shipper to pick up from port to you
Fedex freight is just one example of second shipper . Original shipping container stays in port ,
Who could benefit among thinking people?
say medium electrical company got contract of solar panels installation , builder got large painting job , hobbyist needs lot of lithium batteries .
If you can accommodate up to 3 months shipping time such direct purchase from China can save you tenths or hundreds of thousands on materials

why not find products produced here

why support the death of economies with the mass import of sub par chinese shit

plenty of products being produced here some are just dying to have the right people market them and back them so they can dominate in their own economy

support local businesses and bring back purpose to the nation instead of just being consumers

>> I cannot work in the corporate world anymore and am looking at alternatives similar to what you are doing. I'm not doing the China import thing but something along the same lines domestically. I will still work at my day job and will do my side project in the evenings and weekends. My corporate job is so stressful so I will simulatanously find a less stressful daytime job. My thought is if I cam going to work so damn hard to make someone else rich I want to be doing it for myself. My current boss (president of the company) stays home while I do all the work and he gets all the credit and the big fat paycheck. Fuch that!

Re: Anyone had success importing goods from China for resell in the US?
I have actually had success importing goods from USA up here. Not going to get it into the products because they are obscure, but if you are motivated, have a little bit of capital and a good mind then buying and selling is a no lose situation.

Good thing about the USA is that there is still tons of product sitting on shelves domestically that you can make a good buck off of. Kind of bittersweet, but even moreso in challenging economic times.

best of luck to you.

If you're too small time, the shipping around the world won't make the savings worth it.

YES, automotive parts, electronics, medical supplies, shop tools.

i buy low price bulk for stuff i need, and sell to friends. enough profit to pay for the things i needed. not enough to run a business off imports though.

I've seen decent looking product with free shipping via DHL. Shipping time is 3-7 days after shipping confirmation.

Up here in Canada it is roughly 2200-3000 for a 20 footer to/from mostly anywhere in the world which is quite affordable. That is all I ever used and for larger loads, which were available in the US and Canada, max 2000 ( but usually lower) for a 53 foot van anywhere in Canada and the US.

Haven't you learned yet that there is no free lunch? There is no quick way to make a buck. If there was, everyone would be doing it.

Regarding importing from China, if you pay crap. expect crap in return. Expect one out of every three items to fail. You will spend a great deal of time, money and effort dealing with returns from customers and you won't be able to send defective items back to China for a refund.

Yes, I've gone down that path. Never again.

Be careful what you buy from the Chinese. Their business goal is to make an extra dollar off you. The also like to sell you something "similar" to what they advertise. They will tell you it's "same-same" , but it is not..

OP, will you sell imported Asian products locally or online? Be aware that Western domestic markets are heavily saturated with competition between local retailers. For example, in the U.S., there are many dollar stores and flea market vendors besides giant retailers such as Costco, Walmart, Target, etc. On the internet, Amazon.com generally has the market cornered in the West, offering Asian-made products at a retail price that is equal to what most smaller companies have to pay wholesale before the latter's requisite mark-up to get any return on investmet. I'm speaking in general, however. There are still hot niche markets. But, usually you have to be at the forefront of popular trends.

It's nearly impossible to even compete on ebay any longer.

I've been importing stuff to grow pot for four years now... It's been fun but the profit margin is getting lower and lower. We started selling stuff on ebay, got a 7,500 sq ft warehouse and around 5 million in annual sales now with a team of nine. We mostly get high all day and it's pretty fun.
